Hotarubi no Mori e (movie) Very good ^_^ / ;_; A short, pretty, sweet but also sad movie. Based on a manga by the author of Natsume Yūjinchō, which explains the familiar character designs.
Hotori - Tada Saiwai o Koinegau (special) Good A short but beautiful story. It's a little sad, but also happy.
How to keep a mummy (TV) Very good Slice-of-life:cute/funny. This is just too cute! >_<
Really super cute and nice. Sora is also a nice protagonist.
Howl's Moving Castle (movie) Excellent Another pretty cool Ghibli movie. Like Mononoke Hime and Spirited Away it has plenty of spectacle. Again it's about an ordinary girl saving a magical boy, partly through menial labor. Not sure that's really great, but at least she's the main & POV character.
Hōzuki no Reitetsu (OAV) Decent More of the same it seems. The jokes are occasionally funny, but there's a relative lack of female characters (most of them secondary/background and prostitutes), and a few man-in-a-dress jokes.
Hozuki's Coolheadedness (TV) Decent Slice-of-life, with an interesting setting. The stories are mostly humor, which doesn't always work. Dumb trans joke in ep.3. Some of the convos and gags are very hetmale-centric :/
All in all, some of it was meh or bleh, and some of it was funny. I don't think it's worth owning.
Hugtto! Precure (TV) Good Well, that ended up being a fairly good PreCure season. On the plus side we have the message that "just like girls can be heroes, boys can be princesses", and Ruru&Emiru's and Henri&Masato's relationships. On the minus side we have the heavy promotion of motherhood, Ruru more or less being bury-your-gays'd, and George Kurai being very creeptastic to Hana. At least the ending didn't have him and Hana hooking up (although there was that guy running when Hana was about to give birth, his face wasn't shown, so I choose to think he's just a friend who helped out Hana&her two girlfriends). Homare crushing on Harry for a few eps. was also a bit iffy, but she got over it fortunately. Other than that, the villains were treated nicely and redeemed, and there were some nice eps. So, not bad really.
Hugtto! Precure Futari wa Precure All Stars Memories (movie) Good Another All Stars PreCure movie, another attack on Yokohama. Lol. This movie really goes all out on digging up memories of PreCure seasons past. Not that it results in a deep or coherent story, but that's not the point. It's nice to see all the Cures again, and see them interact/grouped a little different from usual too. The Pinks still get most of the attention of course, as do the running season's Cures and the original two.
The movie's monster has about zero backstory, as usual. The thing at the end where the old camera is supposed to not be neglected anymore feels kinda hollow. Film is impossible to find anymore, and no one has the patience to wait for it to be developed, let alone forego uploading pictures, so yeah, not much of a future for an old camera really.
Another thing that kinda bothered me is the 3D. It's common for PreCure movies to show off the Toei state of the art in 3D. At least this one it doesn't scream "look, I can do all this 3D stuff that's impossible with 2D" like some previous movies. This time the new gimmick is realistic-looking particle effects like smoke, rain, sparks, etc., and crystals. The realistic 3D environments kinda clash with the 2D imitation rendering of the characters. If they would match, either the characters would have to look realistic, which I guess isn't really a good idea, or the environment would have to look 2D, which wouldn't allow the creators to show off their cool new toys. As usual they go a bit overboard showing it off though. Not only are there quite a few shots or even scenes that are only about the particle effects, the smoke and sparks in particular at times get a bit too realistic. On top of clashing with the characters, it makes parts of the fights look too much like a war zone, which is a bad look for a movie for children.
Overall this wasn't bad for an All Stars PreCure movie, and even okay for a PreCure movie in general. At least it was a lot beter than the Hugtto movie.
Humanity Has Declined (TV) Good Whoa, this is going to be weird. It starts off just funny in a dry humor way, but goes to absurd and a bit gross towards the end of the first ep. The ED theme is a similar style, and by the same artist as AzuDai's OP.
Yes, definitely absurd, random, surreal. Well, we'll see how it goes.
Hey, this ended up being pretty good actually. The gross bits were only at the start. Oh, it's not in chronological order, so that's actually one of the last parts. Overall, it's just on the edge of to buy or not to buy.
Hyakko (TV) Decent Well, that's certainly a unique art style. It's a good thing there's a lot of CGI buildings. It would look messy if everything was as hastily drawn as the characters. Very dynamic though.
I think this'll be more of the comedic slice-of-life variety than iyashikei slice-of-life. The way Torako and Tatsuki clash just doesn't fit quiet and contemplative.
Hmm, this is turning out to be more of a class full of characters à la AzuDai than a group of four friends. Not a bad thing, but it's kinda hard to get the audience to care about all of them if they each get little screen time.
Episode six gets downright creepy, and those characters pop up a few more times. Overall this anime just doesn't go in any particular direction. Add in the nasty characters and this isn't something to watch again, let alone buy.
Hyakko Extra (OAV) So-so A little extora half-episode that doesn't really add much. Not that the main part of the anime was much to add to :/
Hyper Police (TV) Good Ah, this looks to be fun. Rather old, and maybe not super exciting, but fun at least. Sakura's voice is cute. Too bad her seiyuu doesn't seem to be very active.
It keeps everything pretty lighthearted, but this anime does touch on some situations that are uncommon in anime such as losing one's job, starting a family, and being lower class. All in all, a pretty decent anime.
Second time: Yup, stil good ^_^
Iblard Jikan (OAV) So-so Basically a slideshow of a bunch of paintings, with tiny bits of animation added to them. The CGI sometimes clashes a little with the rest of the art. The paintings are sort of interesting, but not all that much.
Ichigeki Sacchu!! HoiHoi-san (special) Very good Aww, so cuute ^_^ It's kinda like Mini-Goddess with guns. This anime is way too short unfortunately.
Iczelion (OAV) Weak More Icze*, this time with a more magical girl warrior style. It's only two eps., yet the first ep. is almost all introduction of the characters, with very little actual fighting. And ep.2 is even shorter than the first. Maybe they didn't get the popularity they were counting on? Yah, looks more like a pilot for a series than a complete story.
Iczer Reborn (OAV) Weak AKA Iczer-3, even though it's the second of three OVAs. Made 2 years after Iczer-1, so I guess it wasn't planned for from the beginning. Iczer-3 is kind of a younger/smaller version of Iczer-1. No yuri so far.
And no yuri in the whole OVA. It's basically all about Iczer-3 (as the title implies of course) vs. Neos Gold, with Iczers 1 and 2 crammed into the story to give it some continuity. Atros's heel-face turn was understandable, but could've been shown better than this. Iczer-2's heel-face turn was too sudden and out of character. In all, this anime was not nearly as good as the first OVA (and that had some flaws too).
Idol Defense Force Hummingbird (OAV) Decent Well, if I'm going to watch idol anime, this might be close to Macross? Yeah, the intro sounds a lot like Macross minus the space aliens. Well, in a non-scifi/fantasy setting it's kinda conspicuous when things are unrealistic. Flying and battles are definitely not. The style of the songs is pretty old too. Ah well, we'll see where it goes.
Ep.1 was a lot of setting-building with not a lot of villainy except for the unidentified enemies. Ep.2 reminded me of Dirty Pair Flash 3 ep.3: suddenly beach volleyball for no reason other than fanservice. The rest of the ep. didn't really further any longer plot. With the long time between ep. releases (half a year or so?) I suspect this is one of those "let's see how long this keeps selling" OVAs. Eps.3 and 4 are one story, with ep.3 being mostly setup and waffling. The battle in ep.4 ends a little anticlimactically. Overall, an interesting entry in the fighting idol anime history, well-animated, but very 90s and without much of a captivating plot.
IDOLM@STER: XENOGLOSSIA (TV) Excellent Eh? I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I think something about idols and singing and such. This looks like it's going to be about mecha. Ah well, let's see where it goes. Not surprising is that the character designs and personalities are a lot like those of the Mai-HiME/Otome series. This is from the same creators after all.
Trust Sunrise to come up with a wacky combination of themes and make it work. This anime is a lot deeper and more engrossing than I expected. Too bad it'll probably never make it out of Japan.
If My Favorite Pop Idol Made it to the Budokan, I Would Die (TV) So-so Andrea's top13 of 2020. Not sure about the probably unrequited romance, but maybe it'll be interesting to see things from the fan's side.
Wow, those extreme fans are very uncute. I hope this shifts focus to the characters soon, because the physical side is just cringe.
This anime isn't exactly great, but it does highlight the ickiness of the idol business. Idols being completely dependent on appealing to fans, fans devoting their whole livelihoods to them, and of course capitalism keeping them apart so it can extort both sides.
This anime also has a serious case of characters just not talking to each other. It's sort of excused by Eripiyo and Maina only being allowed to talk for like 5s each time, but the misunderstandings are too extreme to be believable. And toward the end become more and more unbelievable.
Well, it wasn't great, but it was interesting to see more of the fans' side. The humor wasn't for me though.
In This Corner of the World (movie) Good Directed by Sunao Katabuchi. A real slice-of-life story; nothing special happens, just daily life. Okay, it is daily life in war time, but still. The scenes where bombs fell were scary, but the expected big scary bomb actually passed quietly elsewhere. Suzu was cute. Hmm, the fansub I got wasn't very good. Typos and broken markup. Ah well, the movie was still understandable.
Inari Kon Kon (TV) Good Slice-of-life. Romantic, but not overly so. Reviews on ANN are a bit mixed. It's not very long though (11 eps.), so I guess I can give it a try.
OP by May'n. I guess she'll always sound like Macross Frontier's Sheryl Nome to me ^_^; This anime is a bit like Gingitsune, Kamichu! and Wagaya No Oinarisama, except more focused on romance. It's cute romance though, so it's okay.
Hmm, like the review said, it's not quite perfect. Some interesting threads are left undeveloped (Uka & Touka, Akemi & Keiko), and the ending (anime-only; the manga is much longer) felt forced and a bit drawn-out. The OVA didn't change anything; the framing goes after ep.10, but it's mostly a flashback to somewhen around the middle of the anime. Still, like I said, it's one of those rare anime where I don't mind straight romance. The characters are nice and cute. I'd like to see more of this.
Infinite Ryvius (TV) Very good Hmm, there are quite a few characters, and they don't get much introduction before the plot starts. I hope I can pick up who's who quickly.
Well, that wasn't much of a problem after the first few eps. Everyone gets screentime at least once in a while, and there's enough interaction and personality to all of them.
Despite the frequent space battles, this series is much more about human drama than action and adventure. So much so that I felt it dragged a little in the second half. That might just have been due to the situation becoming grimmer over time though.
The ending was very satisfying and happy, contrary to the preceding stretch. Drama-wise this was a very good buildup and release of tension. Overall, this series is deeper than I expected at first, and more satisfying than I expected in the middle. I think I'll buy it after all. I don't think I'll rewatch it soon, but I think it's worth rewatching to catch more details.
INTERSTELLA 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem (movie) Good They used most of the better tracks for the first part, which is understandable, as it wouldn't spoil the movie with the videos for those tracks, but it leaves the second half rather melancholy. Otherwise it is a very nice movie, even without any spoken words.
Interviews with Monster Girls (TV) Not really good Seems to be better than the usual monster girl fare.
The first ep. has a slight exoticism going on, but overall it doesn't seem bad. Ugh. The exoticism and mansplaining are really bad. Must've been a man who put Takahashi in this story and made him like that and made everyone love him. He stares at the girls as if they're animals in a zoo, then explains things to them that they've been living with for a long time. For no reason no one does or understands anything before he appears. Really, this anime wouldn't be too bad without Takahashi in it, but with him I can't recommend it.
Intrigue in the Bakumatsu - Irohanihoheto (TV) Weak Not bad exactly, but definitely not great either. It tries to do two things at once, and ends up rather blah as a result. On one hand it accurately shows the events around the end of the Edo/Tokugawa period (Meiji Restoration, Boshin War). On the other hand, it tries to be a cool show with flashy swordwork and heroic action and such.

The historical parts are good, but a bit boring because of the length of the show (full 26 eps) compared to the length of the period portrayed (the first half covers a few years, the second half only half a year or so). Because of the historical accuracy though, the show's fictional aspects end up failing badly. History has shown the Boshin War to be nothing more than the last futile struggle of an outdated feudal system against industrial and societal modernization, with the Ezo republic only a footnote to that. Samurai are very much romanticized of course, so the show tries to portray them as heroic. The actual result is more tragic than heroic.

If you already know the history, there's not much tension left for the fictional additions. This could have been compensated by having good character development or a deeper theme. The show has neither though. The hero hardly ever talks except for some grunts now and then. He also never reflects on events or his own life. The heroine could have been dramatic, torn between revenge, love and destiny. The revenge arc is drawn out by one too many surprise returns however. Love is implied, but never stated and in any case hardly returned by the hero. And to top it off, she turns into a mute/mindless zombie when possessed by evil (so called destiny), which ruins any dramatic struggle. The most interesting characters are the minor villains, who actually show small glimpses of character development now and then (and look way cooler than the hero). They never really get in the way of the main characters and events though, and are killed off in disappointing ways.

I wouldn't recommend this series, unless you're out of better anime to watch.
Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san (TV) Good Yuri? Friedman put it at two in her top ten anime of the year.
Oh, I see, this is one of those super short ep. anime, like Aiura amd Morita-san Wa Mukuchi.. Pretty much just 4-koma gags, but looks like it might be even more yuri than Sakura Trick. Except of course that ST is a little more serious and longer. Oh, and InuNeko has this whole animal theme too.
Well, it's really nothing deep, but now and then it hits a funny. Definitely one for MMecharin.
Iria - Zeiram the Animation (OAV) Excellent Awesome :) Iria kicks ass and takes names. If I were a princess, I'd want her to come rescue me ^_^ Why didn't they make this a 26 ep. series? Why are there no sequels? I wish there were more anime heroines like Iria.
Iriya no Sora, UFO no Natsu (OAV) So-so Funny and mysterious, with ufos. Or at least someone suspected to be connected to ufo-y stuff.
After that, it gets weirder and weirder, then depressing, and the ending is mostly sad. Everything is explained in an epilogue, but that doesn't really help much. This anime will probably be interesting for fans of SaiKano (and OVA), as it has some similar themes.
IRODUKU: The World in Colors (TV) Very good The first ep. reviews looked interesting, comparing it to Flying Witch in some aspects. The color thing might also be interesting. Then again, I also saw some comments saying it became boring after the first few eps. Ah well, let's see where it goes.
Looks like it might be a love story. So far it's indeed a bit Flying Witch, with the little bits of magic and the relaxed pace.
Hmm, I think I get what those comments were about. The first half the focus was on Hitomi's troubles with magic and colors. Every ep. had at least some magic in it. Her troubles haven't been solved yet, but the focus has shifted to the kids' respective love troubles instead. I hope that they get back to the real story quickly now that Hitomi has rejected Shou. It's already ep.9 of only 13.
Ah, and that it did. The last stretch of eps. is quite magical again, focusing mostly on Hitomi going back. The ending was nice, even if we didn't learn what happened to all of the MSB members. A very good anime in all ^_^
Is the order a rabbit? (TV) Good Listed as iyashikei. Might be fanservicey? Season 2 starts 2015-10.
Hmm, the characters are very otaku-bait. It does have its cute moments though. Mostly it's 4-koma gags. Chino's voice reminds me very much of Minami-ke's Chiaki's, even though they're different seiyuu.
Is the order a rabbit? BLOOM (TV) Good I think I need to catch up on GochiUsa anime some time. Done.
This season feels a little different. Instead of showing the characters interacting and letting the viewers conclude that they're good friends, I feel like this season (so far (ep.4) at least) is emphasising it more on its own, like "aren't they great friends", "look what good friends they are", "we're such good friends, aren't we?", etc. It feels a bit overdone. There's also the characters themselves reacting differently now and then than they would have before (e.g. Chino casually calling Cocoa her big sister, or her deciding on her own to attend Cocoa & Chiya's highschool unlike Megu & Maya), but that might be actual character development, which would be good, can't say for sure yet.
Hmm, I think in the end this season is more like a fond goodbye to the characters than a new development. While it's true that Rize and ChiMaMe graduate at the end, there isn't much actual development aside from Chino getting out of her shell and thanking Cocoa & the others for being her friends. Other than that it's just the usual silliness and some flashbacks/connections to past events and characters. Cocoa meeting Chino's mom Saki's spirit, although quite nice, felt a little out of place in this anime, since it hasn't shown anything supernatural before. Overall it's a nice third season, but I don't expect this anime to continue after this.
Is the order a rabbit?? (TV 2) Good More of the same. It's quite enjoyable, even if the character types are a bit much at times.
Is the order a rabbit?? Dear My Sister (special) Good ANN lists the running time as 40min., but the video file is 1 hour long? Hmm, I wonder if they'll keep up this "Cocoa goes away for a week" for the whole movie. I get the idea of having the other characters interact without Cocoa for a bit, but if it's just going to be all about missing Cocoa so much then what's the point? Well, that's not all. Overall it's not really deep, but nice. Kinda like the rest of the anime really.
Is the order a rabbit?? Sing For You (OAV) Good Unlike the previous Dear My Sister OVA, which is almost movie-length at ~1hr, this one's the same length as a regular ep. Singing-themed, as expected from the title, but not a musical. Basically it could've been a regular ep. really.
Iwa-Kakeru! -Sport Climbing Girls- (TV) Good A climbing girls anime that's not Pocha Climb? Well, let's see what it's like.
Hmm, it wastes no time getting the climbing started. Just a few min. after meeting teammember Jun newbie Konomi is climbing like she's been doing it for a long time already, and in ep.2 the team wins a regional competition (albeit Konomi is the only one who's not a finalist). A refreshing change from most sports anime's underdog stories, but I hope they do spend some time explaining the sport too for viewers who have never climbed.
Seems they don't and you just have to pick up some of the ideas and lingo on the way. From halfway through ep.4 to the end of ep.8 it's a big tournament, which Konomi starts surpisingly great, then the whole team fails in one way or another. I wonder if the remaining 4 eps. are enough to show both the training before and the next even bigger tournament.
Whoa, eps.9, 10 and the first half of 11 are all training, then the second half speeds through the preliminaries of the big tournament. And the final ep. keeps up the speed, just barely showing the tournament's final ranking while the ending credits already started.
Well, as a sports anime it's certainly a change of pace to not have the usual baito-to-pay-for-the-gear, training-camp-antics and oops-we-forgot-to-study-for-school distractions. As a result it gets an unusual amount of actual sports activity in. It comes at the cost of not giving much introduction though. You have to pick it up while watching. It's not all action either, there are a lot of still shots. They're not overdone though, so not distracting. Overall it was pretty good.
Japan Animator Expo (ONA) Decent Like Ani-Kuri 15, but with much longer parts. See also ANN guide to the first two and third seasons.
Hmm, the Ta-kun intros take up a lot of time compared to the total length of the eps. Wow, they weren't exaggerating with that "Objectionable Content: Intense" rating. It's very obvious that most (all?) of these directors are men. Very male-centric stories, at times almost actual porn. *sigh* Okay, I'll just comment ep. by ep.:
1 - pretty cool, some violence/scary stuff in the middle / 2 - cool, nice / 3 - porn / 4 - very violent, scary stuff / 5 - boring
6 - cool, but still has the female mc naked / 7 - boring / 8 - interesting, but not much of a story, gloomy / 9 - shounen robots
10 - very male-centric, but the music's okay / 11 - interesting, electropunk? / 12 - showing off 3D, boring / 13 - very male-centric, boring
14 - porn, violence / 15 - cute / 16 - story's kinda weird, but nice / 17 - interesting, too short even though it's the third longest ep.
18 - cute / 19 - cute, interesting / 20A - remix of #3, still kinda porny / 20B - partial repeat of #12, still boring
21 - somewhat interesting, male-centric / 22 - very male-centric, boring, gloomy / 23 - porn, gloomy / 24 - violent, chiaroscuro
25 - boring / 26 - very male-centric / 27 - cute / 28 - boring, but probably cool for those who are into ikemen
29 - somewhat interesting, male-centric / 30 - shounen / 31 - colorful music video, but male-gazey
32 - NGE cashing in on yuri and idols / 33 - shounen robots / 34 - porn / 35 - cool, but male-gazey
So, that's about half ranging from so-so to good, and half ranging from meh to yech.
Jewelpet Twinkle (TV) Good Let's try a new magical girl anime. S1 apparently was never subbed, so I'll start with Tinkle and hope these seasons are independent like PreCure.
Hmm, it looks a bit childish. Took me a few eps. to get into this. It's still a bit much with the childish glittery stuff, but okay. I'm having fun decoding the Jewelland script.
Hmm, I thought it was going to be a mid-season plot development, but it seems to be heading for a mid-season climax only.
Ep.33 is suddenly weird. I wonder if it had a different writer or something.
Well, the rest of the anime was fun. Made me want to see more Jewelpet. The last ep. was very wtf though, cutting everyone off from Jewelland. What was the point of the whole thing then? Let's just pretend that didn't happen. The OVA was about what you'd expect, a little epilogue, mostly focused on Alma and Akari. Didn't change the last ep.'s weirdness though.
Joshiraku (TV) Not really good This is one of those anime that must be very hard to translate. Not only do they use lots of unusual/obscure words and references, but it's also full of puns and jokes. That's kind of the point of the setting. These subs chose the 'make up a new pun' route. That's not usually my favorite (I'd prefer a literal translation with some notes added), but in this anime that would end up with several notes per sentence. You'd be better off learning Japanese so you can understand the jokes and puns directly that way. So making up new puns is probably the best they could make of it. Still kind of irks me though.
It seems the rakugo thing is just an excuse to have a girls-discussing-completely-random-things anime. There's hardly any rakugo shown at all. By ep.4 the jokes are devolving into violent slapstick and gross remarks.
All in all, Joshiraku was not really good. It had a few moments here and there, but mostly it was just too random/violent/meh.
Jubei-Chan 2: The Counterattack of Siberia Yagyu (TV) Good The art is a little sharper than before, but there are some scenes where the animation is very limited. From the differences in translation between the two seasons, I suspect that one or both took some liberties with the Japanese text :(
Overall, this season is slightly better than the first, but there are different things that are a little off. Quite often a lot of time is spent on things of little importance, like Jiyu's father or some other character running around for no reason. The Bantaro/Shiro gang are even more annoying than in the first series, although their comments on how this or that detail is different or doesn't make sense are sometimes funny. The sword fight scenes are really cool of course. If this were a novel, I would say it needs a good editor. I liked this anime, but I'm not sure it's something I want to buy.
Jubei-Chan The Ninja Girl - Secret of the Lovely Eyepatch (TV) Good Just some light-hearted fun so far. Kinda reminds me of Ranma ½ in some ways (Jubei is nicer than Ranma though). Hah, I noticed it is from the same people as Animation Runner Kuromi because of the little squiddies. This anime's art style is a little rougher though.
Hmm. I get the feeling that this anime is more about the people around Jubei than about Jubei herself.
Well, it got a little better later on, with more focus on Jubei (including lots of action in the last two eps.). I found this anime quite enjoyable. Good, but not great.
Jungle Wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu Final (OAV) Weak Huh. It looks like they took the things that made the first OVA not so good and turned that up a notch. I didn't really like the city setting back in the TV series, and it doesn't look better now.
Nope, this OVA is even worse than the first. At the end it looked like they weren't even trying anymore. Bleh.
Junkers Come Here (movie) Good A nice sweet movie about a girl coping with her parents' absence and her crush on her tutor, helped by her dog. The setting feels quite eighties, and the art is interestingly different from current standards.
K-ON! (TV) Excellent Another awesome anime by KyoAni, makers of Lucky☆Star.
At first I thought that Yui-chan's clumsiness was a little over-the-top, but by ep.2 I got used to it. They're all so cuute ^_^ And the music is pretty good. I think I'll look around for the OST.
K-ON! (movie) Very good Hey, that was a pretty nice movie. The English wasn't too embarrassing either.
Rewatching all of K-On!, it really feels like they're stretching out the last part of the girls' highschool time. S1 covered two whole years in 14 eps., S2 just the last year in 27 eps., and then the movie still doesn't move beyond their graduation. Is it really so hard to show them in university? Surely they don't suddenly stop seeing Azusa.
Anyway, I think I counted three new Houkago Tea Time songs, and maybe one Death Devil song. Let's buying! ^_^
K-ON!! (TV 2) Very good This season is twice as long as the first, but covers only half the time, which means it moves a lot slower. I was expecting new Music Club members, but instead they've stuck with the old group, only adding Jun outside the band. It seems that everyone's personalities are a little bit more extreme this season. Yui and Ritsu in particular are more air-headed and hyperactive. So far, I like this season of course, but a little less than the first.
Watching the rest of the series didn't change my opinion really. This season is just a tad below the first. The first season had near-perfect comedic timing, which seemed to lack a little here. Or maybe that's just due to the slower pace and me being used to the characters now. The focus was more on the girls goofing off instead of playing as a band. In particular, the first season's last (bonus) episode wasn't followed up on, something which I would've liked to see. There is going to be a movie though.
Kai Doh Maru (OAV) So-so Hmm, low-res DVD. Pity, the art warrants something better.
That's some sharp swords, cutting through bones just like that.
Oh, it's only a short story. It's a bit confusing as to what the relations between characters are and what their goals are. I get the feeling that it's referencing some myth/legend/literature that the audience is expected to be familiar with. Interesting art style, melancholy story, but lacking in depth/substance.
Kaiba (TV) Decent The style reminds me vaguely of really old cartoons. The minimal art, the elastic bodies.
The world is a bit male-centric so far, but we'll see where it goes.
From ep.8 it gets a little hard to follow. Is it a flashback or just a skip forward? From there until the end it stays weird. Everyone trying to off everyone, all of whom are not really themselves.
The first part had an interesting world built up, sometimes a little weird or unpleasant, but interesting enough even with all the exposition. The last part was very confusing. Overall, worth watching once for its unique style and story, but not really great.
Kaitō Tenshi Twin Angel (OAV) So-so The 2014 OVA hasn't been subbed by anyone apparently :?
Well, as expected from an anime that originated from a pachislot game, it's quite moe/loli/fanservice. Not a very impressive story, and the Tuxedo Kamen clone gets in the way, as such types always do.
Kakurenbo - Hide & Seek (movie) So-so That was pretty short for a movie/OVA. And with all the darkness it's hard to make out what's happening. There's not really much of a story.
Kami-sama Minarai: Himitsu no Cocotama (TV) Decent Recommended by Maveryn. It looks cute, maybe like FanFan Pharmacy or Jewelpet? Completely subbed incl. movie as of 2018-11. There's a new sequel series (labeled a spinoff on ANN) that seems to be subbed weekly now.
I guess this is Bandai's answer to Sanrio's Jewelpet? I hope it gets more plot soon. I don't think I'll hold on for 139 eps. otherwise.
Just finished 'S1' (i.e. first 76 eps.). Chekhov's forbidden magic returns in eps.74-75, but otherwise there isn't really any ongoing plot. Nozomi gets written out of the story suddenly after that.
ETA: eps.1-25 are generic, Kokoro&her cocotamas only, eps.26-76 still have a lot of generic cocotama stuff, but also the slow-developing Nozomi&Bibbit plot.
