Wow, just wow. This is the face of our fandom, people. "It's not technically rape, so it's fine!"

Seeing people try to justify any form of exploiting and rape is disgusting, sorry. This show is misogynistic beyond belief and you can't deny this.

What? There's no hatred of women in Kill la Kill. Do you honestly not even understand what the term 'misogyny' means, Arias Nise Takane?

It is rather hard to take you seriously based on what I see so far:

1. Children running wild in the streets mugging and stealing from people. No comment from Arias Nise Takane.

2. Brutal, sadistic murder by torture of student in school, who is then staked naked at the entrance. Arias Nise Takane has no apparent objection.

3. Another sadistic, bone crushing punishment combat by the student council minion on the transfer student where the minion felt he was guaranteed no risk to himself. For the offense of talking out of turn. The transfer student doesn't get defended by Arias Nise Takane here.

4. A tickle attack by a quirky AI machine whose function is to be active battle armor. No indication that said AI has a puerile intent -- at least not in the sexual sense -- it just strips the clothes of poor Ryuko over her objections (she doesn't know what its intent is) so it can fulfill its function. It ends up empowering her by doing so. And she takes full advantage. Arias Nise Takane: RAPE RAPE ZOMG you are all so HORRIBLE for JUSTIFYING this.

Summary: I think you are just posing. And not fooling anyone.

This first episode is about sexually exploiting and objectifying a potentially strong female character. She is put in an outfit she clearly is embarrassed to wear, against her will, in a scene that mirrors rape if not jokes about it, all so gleeful otaku can masturbate to it.

All the instances of violence you talked about were not fetishized for leering otaku's sexual fantasies. Seeing a collective mass of what may as well have just been a tentacle monster strip and crawl over a girl's body against her will as she makes verbal and emotional objections just so some otaku can get their kicks was disturbing. It was specifically made to objectify and fetishiize her pain and embarrassment over the incident. Showing someone simply being killed or mugged does not compare, it was not fetishized or objectified at the expense of a minority or group of people. The fact you had someone say 'well technically she was inside it so it's not rape!' just showcases the bigger issue here and reminds me of the rape-apology culture that exists when guys try to justify their actions with 'well technically she never said no'

Whenever I see someone going out of their way to denounce pseudo-rape, I always assume they have been personally affected by rape in some way, which explains their fanatical viewpoint.

With that assumption, it becomes far easier to just ignore their generally illogical and rambling arguments.

No no no. The opposite is true. It's umbrage on behalf of another! See, that way they feel totally self-righteous and benevolent, pointing out to all and sundry how evil the Evil is.

It's best just to ignore people like that and move along, as arguing with them only fuels the Holy Fires of Wrath.

Yep.. I dont see how Kill La Kill, Diabolik Lovers, Wanna be the Strongest in the World!, or any of these other shows people call sexist can be sexist. Seems like a lot of projecting going on Laughing Who cares if there's fanservice, human body aint nothing to be ashamed of. That Fall 2013 Anime Preview Guide thread got derailed by talk of "sexism" and "misogyny" it was kinda silly.

I personally didn't have a problem with the aggressive uniform scene, but I see how it could rub people the wrong way. Conceptually, I find the idea of a pushy, sentient, revealing sailor uniform kinda funny, but I recognize not everybody shares my sensibility.

The problem with Wanna be the Strongest in the World was not that it was loaded with fanservice, but rather that said fanservice was basically misogynistic torture porn. The majority of the fanservice was characters hollering in pain and unnecessary shots at unmentionables.

Well now I'm confused because the scene in Kill La Kill was just as "misogynistic torture porn". Can't really defend one and bash the other.. Laughing unless we're playing the "I like this show so it gets a free pass" game. The outfit in Kill La Kill ain't exactly necessary to be that skimpy and show off massive underboob and ass nor did they have to play it up as rape. Not that I mind that stuff, but it's pretty hypocritical to defend one over the other/

I did not really see the pushy uniform and the unwanted reactions from the girl to be too out there. But I had little interest what the uniform looked like, it just seemed so typical to get something that revealing that I just sighed at it. I have no interest in a skimpy outfit, it just says that as a girl she has to sexualised unlike if a guy was in the same situation, I think she has better potential than that.

"Projecting" has officially become such a brainless apologist buzzword that it just gets tossed out like this as a blanket dismissal of any and all criticisms without the slightest explanation of what the fudge it is even supposed to mean in this context.

At this point, the numerous reasons people take issue with these shows and/or fanservice in general, none of which are "the human body is shameful", have been explained at length. Those who still choose to pretend that is the reason simply reveal themselves as disingenuous.

I am female and I took the scene as *gasp*
a joke.
Was it tasteful?
Um....this is the same director who gave us Panty and Stocking, guys.

Referring to everyone collectively as "guys" is derogatory; didn't you take Feminism 101?
