Might go for this if no company in the US licences this series.

Love Live wouldn't be the first to do this and although it will definitely sell well, I'm not sure it'll even be able to top its own 2nd Season's sales that easily. I suppose the English subtitles could definitely help, but even with how popular it is, I imagine anyone buying it purely because of English subtitles is still a drop in the bucket at best.

I don't think ENG subs will add a lot of sales...those prices are REALLY high for most English fans...not to mention import prices.

That said, I'd much rather have a sub-only release for a music-focused show like this. ENG music translations always are weird/awful and ENG speaking with JP songs is just as awkward/awful.

The dub for Season 1, 2, and the movie was good. And they didn't dub the songs so no worries there. One it would be hard to translate the songs and two I'm sure it would cost more.

So if they do release a dub of Sunshine (God forbid Funi gets the rights to release the show) I don't think you'll have worry about them dubbing the songs.

I agree about no dubbing the songs for shows like this. And it'll be interesting to see the prices on these. I'm going to say about $70 each factoring in shipping fees.

I'm pretty sure Funi does have the home video license. No they won't dub the songs because they're actual songs that are sold at retailers. Dubbing these songs would mean that they're counted as covers, and that creates a giant legal mess if a company sells a product that contains cover songs of another product.

I'm just going to assume you don't realise that NISA's release of the series has the Japanese audio in addition to its (Surprisingly solid) English dub. I'm also going to assume that you were simply unaware of the fact that the vast majority (Probably more than 90%) of anime releases since the birth of DVD have both English and Japanese audio. In which case, I recommend going into setup and choosing 'Japanese with English subtitles'.

I like to see the best in people. So I'm not going to assume that you're one of those people who think that those who want an English audio option should miss out simply because you don't want it. I'm also not going to assume you're the type of person who's so bothered by the mere presence of an English audio option that they wouldn't buy series as a result. After all, that would be really pathetic.

"…eight of her classmates…"

(facepalm slap)

Funi, do you even have the slightest knowledge that they're made up of three freshwoman, three sophomores and three seniors?

Really? Of my collection of roughly 250 various anime series, mostly on Blu-ray, not even half of them have English audio.

That statement is simply not true... not even close.

The number would be far closer to 25-35% if you're lucky... maybe even lower.

This is really all that needs to be said.

I really hope that they haven't been allowed the home video rights to it and I especially hope the JP BDs aren't using their subs.

Why is it 9 members again? It made sense with Muse, but the new group should have their own lore and not be tied down to previous numbers; otherwise they'd be seen as copycats.

Why would you change a money making formula that is working? Why would you want innovation when people are satisfied with replication?

Too many and it just becomes a pain in the ass to manage. Reducing it, on the other hand, reduces the amount of character goods you can sell - not only from reducing the number of characters, but by increasing the chances that a big spender won't find a waifu(eg, if you removed Umi, would the fans who spent big bucks on her really have spent the same amount on one of the other girls?).

It's only happened one time so far - it's not yet a formula. And it's just a number - ya can make it 7 like the 7 lucky stars, or 12 like the zodiac, or 8 as sideways infinity - y'know, so at least they have their own lore and reason for their number. I guess they can keep 9 too, but it's better when they have their own reason/lore for 9 members that they can call their own, since they're not the 9 Muses anymore.

(And I thought people don't like too much replication. Isn't that the main complaint with the Disney formula?)

Almost any reasonable number can be worked with - it doesn't have to be exactly 9.
If they had come up with the Pleiades (7) number to start with, ya know ya would had said the exact same thing - and yet now we know 9 would still work. IMHO, a small difference in numbers wouldn't make much of a difference that they're not savvy enough they can't make it work.

(Even all of AKB don't hold themselves to an exact # and there's so many of 'em - any # they can make it work and market it. And we're not even talking about AKB numbers here, not even close.)
