Definitely looking forward to Hiroyuki Imaishi's work in this with his style.

I hope the next preview show some animated footage.

Quite worried about the A1-Pictures aspect for this one, they almost always find a way to ruin things. I guess I'll find out when I watch the show.

I was waiting on staff to set my expectations and it looks promising. Nishigori does good work, and the other staff look good for the most part (I'm only worried about the one sharing series composition with Nishigori).

On another note, the list of Nishigori's credits for Idolm@ster (both TV and the movie) are crazy long. What position didn't he do? Jeez.

I'm actually pretty intrigued by this one, based on the key visual and the staff working on it. Hiroyuki Imaishi supervising the action is always a good thing, and I'm a sucker for Masayoshi Tanaka's character designs, so I'm feeling pretty good about this.

So the Trigger peeps were not bragging when they said the staff would blow us away. That is a dream team!

I had the same reaction before someone pointed out on Twitter that this is the guy who wrote Plastic Memories, and more famously the Steins;Gate VN.

Steins;Gate is definitely a positive, but I think many will see Plastic Memories as more mixed at best. I liked the show but the scifi angle of the show was a bit underdeveloped and not explored enough. Not that that will be a problem here, but I would still say that they would be the weakest link. Not that they will do a bad job.

Maybe he'll focus more on the emotional aspects of the story because he was the original creator of Plastic Memories ,assuming this is a sc-ifi series

What exactly are you worried about? How do they almost always run things for you? And who are they in the first place? The staff of the works A-1 Pictures produces (which always greatly differs from work to work because they rely almost exclusively on freelancers)? The producers?

Even if they mostly have outsourced stuff, the guys in charge are still over at A-1 in the end and they get the main recognition out of the work. They are very sloppy and inconsistent with almost all of their anime, they can't keep things animated properly for the entire run of the anime for anything in the world. Their manga adaptations have been very infuriating and poorly handled for the most part and most of their original works are also pretty bad (I liked Anohana and Tsuritama, that's it). A-1 is the "they", the general entity known as A1 is the problem. Even their well received manga adaptations don't have any merit for the way they were adapted, the credit goes to the source material for being good. Even if most of their stuff is handled by completely different people, the same problems plague all of their stuff. I guess you can blame the company and the way it is run in general.

Why does the picture remind me of Elfen Lied?

Which "guys in charge" are at A-1? The main creative staff (director, series composition, character designer/Chief Animation Director) are usually freelance, as in they don't work for A-1. For some projects even the producers aren't from A-1.

A-1 can keep quality though a production, provided they have the right staff and plan properly - their planning does need improvement, which is one thing I will put on the studio. Eromanga-sensei maintained its production values and very good character animation though its run, to the point that it was not anyone's problem with the show. Erased likewise was good in that regard, and while I don't think they handled one plot point well, I don't see that as entirely the fault of the staff involved. Grimgar was well done production and story wise and Granblue Fantasy was not without some very nice animation highlights. I could point out a number of other shows by A-1 that while the animation and production values were more workmanlike, they were at least consistent.

Again their planning could be improved (the aforementioned Granblue Fantasy had to be delayed a season due to poor planning) but that isn't just a A-1 problem. Honestly there are few studios that can keep the same production values and animation through their entire run so holding that against A-1 in particular isn't fair.

Does A-1 have some poor work? Yes. But just because they made Qualidea Code doesn't mean all of their work is Qualidea Code. Or Ace Attorney.

Just looked at the wikipedia page to see other A1 works and had the exact opposite reaction. I had no idea they made so many of the anime I love and now I'm looking forward to this. On the other hand if your referring to just there original anime I can see why you would be worried. I think Anohana and Sound of the Sky are the only two I like from that list.

Props to those involved in the making of the trailer.
