Oh my, I never thought Orphen would get a new anime. Not that I'm complaining though, I enjoy the old series quite a bit. So I'm excited to see how this new series will turn out. Now if only Read or Die would get a new anime, I might cry tears of joy if that happen.

Well call me Surprise E. McGee! I never ever thought this would come back. I hope it's good and not murdered like that short subject Captain Tylor sequel or Soul Hunter.

The question is: was the old anime faithful to the novels? And would this new one be a remake or adapt new content?

Wow, this was one of the earleist anime I ever saw, back in the days when it was airing on Adult Swim before I even knew what anime was, and probably wasn't old enough to be watching it. Can't believe they're making a sequel to it after all this time. I hope it's good.

The article hints at it might be a remake.

I’m totally game for this! There’s finally a long overdue follow up that I can get excited over. Hoping Sentai eventually nabs this, for dub cast consistency.

I find it funny that the original creators were also wondering why now is this new series getting made. My (humorous) guess/theory is that there are plenty of other old properties being revived nowadays with continuations/remakes and the next one the production committees wanted to dig up was this one because it was the one the dart landed on. Regardless, color me interested and I’ll wait to see what the staff will be before having any more thoughts on it.

Never aired on Adult Swim. Only Anime Network.

Well, with Revenge already having proved that "newer animation" does not necessarily mean "better," let's hope this new work doesn't pull a Berserk '16. Too bad Steven Foster isn't around the dubbing scene anymore, though -- if Sentai acquires and dubs this, it just won't be the same experience. I recently rewatched both seasons in Japanese, and they're just not as entertaining as the dubbed versions. The altered spells and Volkan insults, along with many other rewrites, went a long way in enhancing the material.

Granted, Foster didn't direct the Revenge dub, but it continued in much the same spirit. Scriptwriter Kathleen Moynihan was coincidentally involved with various other Foster dubs like This Ugly yet Beautiful World, E's Otherwise, Cromartie High School, and Pani Poni Dash.
