The thought of a Speed Racer movie directed by the Wachowski brothers... err, siblings (Isn't "Larry" Linda now?) entices me, but the vivid image of Vince Vaughn in Spandex both sickens and disturbs me. Anime dazed

Vaughn, I wonder how serious his character's role will be.

Vaughn, can play both serious and comedic roles, or a mix of both. Its been a long time since I have seen Speed Racer so I don't remember how Rex was supposed to be.

Oh~ Vince Vaughn? That's awesome! I'm not sure who Rex is (in my lifetime, I've probably only seen two episodes of Speed Racer) but maybe I should ask my parents, they used to love Speed Racer.

Wow, this is hilarious. Vince Vaughn, the Wachowskis, and Speed Racer. I wonder if they'll talk the way they did in the cartoon. If they do, then that's just amazing! Laughing

Meh, I'd rather see Tatsunko's other franchise;gatchaman get the live action treatment. especially since superhero movies are still the big thing these days. The Wachowski bros got lucky with V for vendetta (post matrix sequel flops) but i'm not holding my breath on Speedy. i wonder if the bros will pay homage to SR by enabaling the characters will speak 2 sentences per second.

Killer 7: V for Vendetta was absolute crap, and I didn't even like the source material that much.

people said the same thing about Transformers and EVA. hell, if theyve touched EVA and any of these movies become even a small hit, theyd touch something with an enourmous fanbase. think on the Akira or CLAMP scale.

they couldnt make any harem series, cause then it would be porno, or a really bad teen sex comedy.

Aww c'mon man,how could you say that? i'm no fan of the Wachowskis for obvious reasons, but i give them props in regards to V. best Alan Moore based movie thus far.I can't say the same for League of extrodinary gentlemen.

The source material you had mentioned, somewhat hits close to home; Terrorism,Facism,Corruption and "Undesirebles" being used as ginea pigs for government funded experiments. V's got it all. However the last 6 minutes were predictable wether you have read the graphic novel or not.

I can't help to think what would happen if the Wach bros got their grubby hands on other Tatsunoko franchisces,i already mentioned Gatchaman (which is planned for a CGI movie like Final Fantasy AC) and Casshan was already made in Japan.albiet disapointing. I would love to see a live action Macross version but that ain't gonna happen. Maybe unless it's Robotech.

I'll pass on Gainax's (based) Evagelion movie that's now in the works.

True, but that's not saying much.

Except that V's an alternate totalitarian future of an England under Thatcher, while this is just a "satire"(more like a friendly nudge) on the War on Terror.

I thought the Wachowskis would have been perfect for DBZ, myself. And then I found out that, in Reloaded, they actually did do a DBZ scene. (Neo vs the Smiths.) Technically, it's more of an homage to Drunken Master 2, but you can tell that the way Keanu spins around is pure Goku. Then Ratner did his own DBZ scene in X3 with that projectile stand-off between Pyro and Iceman, and I figured he'd be ok for the job, too. Considering all the homages to Akira in all three Matrix films, though, I'm disappointed that Norrington was hired to direct over the Wachowskis.
