Finally, another series to get an English dub that I'm surprised hadn't got one already. I always found it really weird that Bandai Visual never gave Gunbuster a dub when they released it back in the 00s.

There's some great stuff here but even a crumb of info about if their Kodocha release is still happening would have been wonderful. That being said, A-ko looks great!

About time Machine Robo got released in full. Do Battle Hackers next!

...oh, and Gunbuster is fine too, I guess.

(in all seriousness it's great to finally have that on BD when it was out in Japan for so long)

Gunbuster news is huge. To my knowledge, they've been trying for decades to get it dubbed, but nothing ever got done.

What a time we live in.

Looking forward to getting the Lupin III releases on Blu-ray, and Robot Carnival on 4K.

Amazing announcements as always! Looking forward to the A-Ko remaster and Lupin III VS Detective Conan especially. Never seen Robot Carnival but an anime in 4K sounds tempting... even though I don't have a setup to support 4K, but hey, perhaps in the near future!

Will probably get Mystery of Mamo as well because I only have the Manga UK DVD. Also, I'm very happy they decided to release Lupin III Part 5 in a single set, I wasn't very thrilled about having that one split.

Ronin Warriors and Machine Robo also look right up my alley, will get those! Hell, even Cutey Honey Live-action looks kinda funny. I will be skipping Gunbuster however, I recently gave that a watch and didn't really enjoy it that much. Really cool they'll dub it though!

As for other releases, I can't wait for Lupin III Part 3, Grimm's Fairy Tales Season 2, Future Robot Daltanious, Detective Conan: The Darkest Nightmare, Galaxy Cyclone Braiger, City Hunter Season 2 Part 2, Hajime no Ippo Part 3 and Sgt. Frog Season 1.

I barely have shelf space left but I just can't stop lol.

I wonder what the deal is with licensing RE: Cutie Honey.

Very happy to hear Gunbuster got rescued. I thought that was in licensing hell (Chariots of Fire).

Now I'll have many copies of Gunbuster:
3 VHS tapes by Manga Entertainment, R2J DVD (Remaster), R1 DVD (Bandai Visual USA) and a regular edition of Gunbuster Blu-ray (Bandai Visual).

Thanks Discotek.

Legendary Armor Samurai Troopers, Cutie Honey The Live also licensed

Correction: Samurai Troopers was licensed in 2014

animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-09-05/discotek-adds-samurai-troopers-bokurano-comic-party-3rd-lupin-iii-tv-special/.78423

It's the Ronin Warriors dub that's new here since there were clearance problems before but it has since been solved and has been streaming on Retrocrush for a while.

Anyway

Cutie Honey: The Live.....what a surprise and a very welcoming one since I watched this 9 years ago and it was a lot more fun watching than the Anno live-action that we had here so I look forward to watching again.

The story back then was that the original Music & Effects track was lost but since the BVUSA fiasco, a Blu-ray release happened in 2012 and came with a newly-remixed 5.1 track so I would imagine the M&Es for that version is what's used for the new dub.

Gunbuster on Blu-ray! Fantastic news!

I've been holding on to my old U.S. Renditions VHS tapes for ages, and given this announcement, no longer regret passing on Bandai Visual's DVD release some years back. Will be ordering this as soon as I'm able!

I seriously thought an English dub of Gunbuster was impossible because the music and sound effects tracks were lost or something. So I am very curious what kind of wizardry Discotek pulled. Shocked

No freakin' kidding! Though considering Discotek can seem to pull the unexpected, I can see that as a plausible pick up.

Honestly shocked to see Top-O Nerae coming here. I hope the original Japanese audio is included, not just the re-created audio from the 2000s.
