Atelier games tend to come in threes, so this will probably be the final installment related to Ryza.

The next Atelier should be a tad more fanservicey, think Marie. Ryza's last 2 games sold well because of it.

It's funny how people will go on about how criticizing fanservice in games is horrible because you're "forcing your tastes on the devs and their artistic vision". Anyway, yeah, as much as I love Ryza's thighs, I'd rather Atelier leave the cheesecake to O'Dea Factory. We're here for cozy vibes, there are other places to go for cheesecake. |

Mysterious and Arland's proved that Atelier's series can reach a fourth installment so a potential 4th can't be exclude depending of how well this one sells. I enjoyed Ryza 1&2's gameplay much more than i did with this year Sophie 2 and many earlier ones actually so i don't agree that Ryza is all about aesthetic, it's the main selling point though.

Two of the male party members are walking wardrobe malfunctions and people think it's not fanservice-y enough? Did we watch the same trailer? I'm eating very well, thank you.
At this point I'm trying to decide if it's worth getting the entire trilogy on PlayStation (or PC, even), even though that would mean restarting Ryza 1. This latest entry looks like it would really benefit from the better GPU, not that Ryza 1 looked bad on Switch, just a little restrained. 3 is being billed as Ryza's "final summer adventure," so this is probably the last one, at least until we get a reunion game in a decade or so. |

In preparation for this I played through the first Ryza game for the first time and part way through the second. I've owned them both since release, just haven't made time to play them. The first game feels like a sort of primer for new Atelier fans, it's very simple and straightforward while the second game has a lot of side quests to take on, to the point that it feels like they keep repeating story points just to extend the gameplay. They're both fun games, but I definitely prefer the alchemy system of the first game.

I disagree I thought Ryza's gameplay was the worst part of it and Sophie 2 was a welcome return to form in both comfiness and gameplay Honestly hope they move on from Ryza after this, though considering how well it's been doing comparatively I find that unlikely |

I wouldn't mind the Atelier franchise have the two kinds of battle and alchemy system in rotation for every other game.
I think Ryza's active battle and alchemy fits the whole grand adventure scheme of things. |
