Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun should have been nominated for anime of the year.

You jhave a typo. Fall 2022 season will be in 2023 voting, not 2024.

Also, I am bothered that despite me voting from my registered CR account they still ask for email to vote.

That's not a typo. This year's awards is the 2023 awards even though it covers the Fall 2021 through Summer 2022 season. The next Anime Awards voting will take place in 2024 and be called the Anime Awards 2024 although it will cover Fall 2022 to Summer 2023 seasons.

They made some improvements with the character award categories, then walked right into a bad one by apparently only assuming one "main" character. Anya, Yor and Kage are definitely not "supporting" characters in their respective shows.

This lineup is not surprising, but disappointing for me. First of all, where is Pretty Cure? And Healer Girl was my best this year, it should've gotten at least one category. I loved Bibliophile Princess too and was disappointed to see it completely omitted.

Healer Girl is nominated for Best Original, Bibliophile Princess is a Fall show and not eligible, Precure is just too niche I guess.

You know, typically you're supposed to learn from your mistakes over the years. The Anime Awards said no thanks though and just decided to be even worse than before. Not even going to bother to vote this time around.

So shows that came out in October 2022 have to wait until January 2024 to be eligible? That's dumb.

Typical response from an unpleasable fan.

These awards have improved over the years, but chronic complainers don"t care about that.

I’m genuinely shocked it’s not here. I was gonna vote for it.

Hey! Give them some credit... Crunchyroll's marketing interns works their little tails off every year to come up with ever more incomprehensible decisions.

Not at all actually, but hey, if you're okay with them leaving out an entire season, removing popular categories, repeating the same shows over and over, and even snubbing previous anime of the year winners, then the more power to you I suppose.

Didn't realize posting a single time about something equated to being a chronic complainer.

Oh, I didn't notice that about Healer Girl! Thanks for letting me know.

And thanks for info about the Fall shows too (Lynzee too). I think personally it's not a good idea to push Fall shows to the next year if you really want to make something about the previous year's awards, it just makes it confusing as to what's included and less structured.
