My problem with Polygon Pictures is that their human characters always feel awkward because they move like robots.

I don't mind that it's CG. I mind the fact that they still try to animate humans as if they were 2D characters. Lip flaps on an unmoving character work in traditional animation, in 3D they always look as if they were frozen in place.

Studio Orange understood this and that's why they animate the living bejesus out of their models. Just look at Trigun Stampede.

I hope that Polygon can pull it of and at least make the story more interesting than last time, but after the snorefest that was their Godzilla trilogy I have my doubts.

Cg from ca. 2005 and a focus on kids. And with that, I am out. 90s Gamera was a fluke, wasn´t it?

That's a lot of Kennys.
The CG in general looks terrible but some of the Jiger shots look interesting.... or maybe it's in focus when it shouldn't since it's supposed to be a giant monster.

I haven't seen animation about an overgrown turtle this ugly since the new Ninja Turtles trailer dropped.

I should probably point out that it's ENGI handling the animation production and not Polygon Pictures. Other than that, I agree with everything that you said regardless.

Well, animation-aside, this looks about what I'd expect from a Gamera anime. Which is a good thing!

I think this looks promising, but I've been burned by all the Netflix Godzilla anime.

Polygon will co-produce it with ENGI

The CG makes me gag but I'm desperate for more Gamera so I'll watch. Hopefully we get a new live action Gamera movie one day.

The monsters look good, the humans less so.

The issue with the Godzilla trilogy was that it was boring as all hell and thought it was smarter than it was. Singular Point meanwhile, WAS that smart and was based on some very complicated theories, namely quantum anomalies, but had enough Kaiju and likable characters for you to forgive it while laughing at people who unironically thought Rick and Morty needed a high IQ to be enjoyed.

Given all the promotion has been “Gamera vs Kaiju”, they at least shouldn’t be boring.

Kaina of the Great Snow Sea aired this season and it's by Polygon and it looks fantastic and the CGI is just as impressive as anything Orange does and I don't know why people keep bringing out this 2014 talking point of making out Polygon as the worst CGI anime studio when there's been far worse out there and Polygon has improved a lot in the past decade. Even Knights of Sidonia was actually good for it's time and doesn't deserve all the hate it gets. This Gamera trailer alone should prove enough there's far worse than Polygon out there.
