Just for my curiosity, why took 5 months for this post?

Probably because it wasn't publicly revealed that Yoshioka had passed until just now. Sometimes, the family & closest friends of the deceased want time to mourn privately, and when they're ready then they'll announce it publicly.

Well, that's what I thought at first, but the Asahi Shimbun article dated... February 26. That's over four months from now.

The article literarly says it was officially announced back in February.

I only ever heard of this series just last month, too.
Rest in peace

We missed this news when it was announced back in February, and it was brought to our attention only recently. While it is "old" news, I decided it was still worth writing up, as I believe obituaries should still be written even if they aren't timely.

I will forever be in his debt for creating The Irresponsible Captain Tylor, which is my favorite anime. I even have the original novels but haven't learned to read them yet. I love all the characters as well, and formed some of my strongest parasocial bonds with most of them. I'm doing a podcast for the series so from now on, every episode will be In Memoriam.

Rest in peace. I think Tyler was a good series on its own and a parody of other space-operas (LOGH)
