I know JJK’s dub (and Studiopolis in general) is kinda infamous for its double casting at this point but yeah, it’s still pretty disappointing when it pops up. There are a bunch of other VAs I feel like could have really fit Toji who haven’t already played a major role in the show.

The new Bleach dub got hit pretty hard by this too along with the recasting (did Anne Yatco need to play two female Sternritter!?) even if the actual quality of the dub isn't bad.

I hope they'll go back to announcing dub dates weeks before. Though one can generally assume a dub will release 2 weeks from the initial broadcast, it's nice to have it confirmed early. I anticipated as much and will finish the JK0 movie tonight.

How much longer for BLEACH and One Room Hero?

Bleach's dub starts on Hulu on August 5. One Room Hero is on Hidive, so there's no telling if it will have a dub or not.

Nah I don’t think it’s disappointing at all personally, and I feel like the double casting meme for this show is hella overblown. Allegra Clark was double cast and uses two completely indistinguishable but extremely fitting voices for her characters, and Xander Mobus was double cast as a character that basically never talks and his actual character Todo. Every other “double cast”, was for very minor characters, if that. The only egregious one, if you wanna call it that, is Keith Silverstein as the robo guy and the principal, both pretty minor side characters that get less than a full episodes worth of screentime in total for S1.

Nicolas Roye voiced Junpei in season 1, and first of all they don’t have to worry about those characters ever sharing scenes, but secondly he’s a fantastic VA who easily has the range to make the characters sound distinct. I think he’s gonna crush it. Besides I’m so hyped for Lex Lang, I feel like he hasn’t had as big a role as Suguru Geto in yeeears, it’s gonna be so sick.

Genuinely glad it doesn't bother you, but it turned me off pretty quickly. Just to defend my point - I don't mind double casting within reason (i.e. a show like One Piece where it's hundreds of episodes and repeat major roles are still fairly spread out arc-wise), but in addition to people doubling up on major roles making the dub feel less exciting, it's also just the little things adding up. Actors showing up for 3-5+ characters in addition to their main role all in relatively close proximity to each other so they can save money on recording time (i.e. Tara Sands plays 5 different characters in the span of 6-7 eps & Kyle Hebert voices almost every prominent old man in the show), having mistakes pop up because even the director got their wires crossed with all the double casting and had the wrong actors read for certain characters (I think the one line in the baseball ep is still there on blu-rays/streaming), etc...

It's more a Studiopolis thing to save time and money than specifically a JJK quirk, I know I've heard people complaining about the new Bleach dub doing a similar thing albeit less noticeably, but when I'm watching a show and every side and minor character sounds like the same few people shuffled around occasionally putting on different voices, it takes me out of it and that’s when it becomes an issue. Not to mention it gives me less faith in future casting because why would they take the time to find someone when they can just cast someone who was already in the show for several episodes because they'll work fine.

Not saying you aren't valid in enjoying it obviously, nor am I saying there aren't good performances in the dub. But I do not agree the claims are overblown when compared to their modern dub contemporaries. It's a lot more than a couple actors showing up again after their previous character will no longer be in the show.

Nice. At least most of the summer anime I'm interested in are getting dubbed this season.
Thanks for the heads up!
