Man, what a cast. Aoi Koga is probably going to feel intimidated headlining a show with such seiyuu legends.

I'm so glad they got Tatsuya Takahashi on board for this series. Since he's an anime writer now anyway, it's such a perfect choice. Cool

Yeah, that really makes it funnier - while Mitsumi and Amazuyu are the illustrators at Leaf/AQUAPLUS, and the original story touches a lot about doing CG for eroge/bishojo-ge in the late 90s - but Takahashi was a writer who worked there at the same time.

Nice cast.

Hopefully the original story will be decent, I'd rather just have an adaptation of the manga; then again most younger people even in Japan don't even know that PC-98 emulation exists much less the actual PC-98 computer and it's variants.

By the way, just for anyone interested in keeping up with this series, there's been an update on the original as well:

Misato Mitsumi confirmed on twitter that the newest issue of the doujinshi version, Vol.8, will be on sale at Comiket this weekend! She also outlined a plan for Vol.9 to come out at Comic1 in the Fall, and for the finale Vol.10 to come out at Winter Comiket. (alongside an omnibus of the whole 2nd half of the series)
It seems like a good plan to get the original manga concluded while this anime airs, so hopefully they can pull it off.

There was also some sad news however, in that for "various reasons" there won't be a Vol.3 of the professionally published tankobon version. So you must read the doujinshi to see the last third of the original manga's story.

Well, the "Another Layer" anime will be its own unique story anyway, so that may not be a concern for many of you here. Anime smile + sweatdrop

So let me get this straight.

1. This anime isn't actually a straight adaptation of the manga
2. The manga actually got, uh, axed, during the production of this anime?
3. The story of the manga will be continued in doujin format?[/list]

1. Yes. As previously announced.
2. Yes. If I had to guess a reason, it's probably become too hard to get permission from the copyright holders of all the eroge that are directly referenced in the manga. In fact, I'd say it's kind of a miracle that this got officially published in the first place.
3. Yes. I think it started as a doujin in the first place.

Well, first two volumes are just basically commercial printed versions of the doujin as far as the content goes anyway, so there is nothing actually to miss except the availability to purchase.
