Now part of me wants to see it redubbed with the Funimation English dub voice cast.

Or maybe some of the English anime dub cast as background characters in season two.

All other characters are dubbed by their anime VAs. So why Arlong’s voice is changed?

And to make it even stranger, the Funimation dub is adapted from the Japanese dub, so it goes English→Japanese→English.

Mayumi Tanaka changed up her acting a bit, the rest basically came in to voice another run of episodes. The core German dub, our OP dub is actually good unlike the just ok eventual English version, also came back for the show. Netflix is genuinely trying to make this into something. We´ll see. An adapaption that bothered to put Bogard into it can´t be all that bad.

Most likely the old actor just wasn't available.

Must be so surreal to voice a live-action version of the character you play animated.

I’m not really sure Mayumi works quite as well dubbing a live action male actor, but she’s had decades of experience with this role, so she still brings a special touch.

I kinda hope they get Brina Palencia to reprise Chopper. It’s not like they’re going for big name actors, and I don’t see why they wouldn’t consider her if they made a big deal out of getting the Japanese voice cast back for the Japanese dub.

It looks like he hasn't been active since 2021. But maybe they just wanted a different actor since his voice is so unique in English now.

Actually, this year he's been in Digimon Ghost Game and Atelier Marie's remake. So he is still active, although not as much as in the past.

I really REALLY hope this isn’t as garbage as the live action Cowboy Bebop series was.

You're right! It looks like Arlong seems to be voiced by Hiroki Touchi now.

Watched the first five episodes last night. They did a fantastic job with this live action adaptation. Even the non-anime fan watching it with me, liked it.

Fans of the series should be pleased.

Only thing disappointed with, is that it is only eight episodes long. I only have three episodes left to watch, then a whole year to wait to see more.
