While I'm happy that Sentai is trying dubbing. They couldn't have picked a more weaker title.

But still, I initally wanted to see Clannad in dub, and the fact that former ADV Films staff are working on the dub, piques my interest. I can tell, that this title is gonna sell HUGE again, and many will look foward to this, me included.

While I totally agree that there is Sentai stuff out there that deserves a dub ALOT more then Clannad the reason Clannad is getting one is because of sales.

It would seem that if something sells well Sentai will considering dubbing it and if it doesn't then they won't. Not a bad plan considering the upgrade plan they are gonna have.

How is it a more weaker title? It's their best selling title along with Appleseed which will be getting a new dub from them as well for the Blu-ray release.

I sounds like i need to kick somebodies ass... The first 2 posters taste in Anime is obviously lacking. That is all there is to it.

I just finished jumping up and yellin' a bunch of curse words in shock and suprise at hearing this news. Clannad (well, After Story) is one of my top 10 favorite anime, and I was honestly kinda disappointed when I learned that there would be no dub initially, so I simply watched the episodes as the came on VOD and such--finished After Story a few weeks ago. [[Not to say that I have a problem with the amazing japanese dub, and I would have bought it eventually.]]

Now that a dub has been confirmed, and once I can confirm that the dub is actually well done, I'll be putting in a pre-order for the 1st DVD release as soon as I can. Can't wait for this one. Cool

As if you're the person to be commenting on people's taste.

Unfortunately, no. Last year, Comcast chose not to renew it's contract with Anime Network. Several of us Comcast subscribers have been writing in and complaining and sending up channel request forms, but with no success so far.

You can try contacting them and requesting the channel. Another voice is unlikely to turn the tide, but it can't hurt.

You know what I mean. It's a bad anime in general.

Yeeeees....... That's it exactly..... I can't even begin to point out the glaring flaws of Clannad...
If there's one thing I'm grateful about, it's that the dub could make it tolerable for a second watch, because watching it subbed was one of the most painful experiences I've had.

Why even watch it again? If you don't like it, there was no reason to ever watch it all the way through once. Nevermind twice.

Simple. Because I usually like Key series. I liked all of their predecessors. I love Air, and Kanon was good fun.

But the thing is, I watched them and liked 'em better in their dubbed counterparts.

I really, REALLY, wanted to like Clannad. With all of my open-minded being. But it was too cliche'... It did everything that the other series did. Fuko's arc was the most enjoyable to me. Kotomi wasn't even that impressive of a character. Kyou was a waste of space (though, I hope Brittany can make her character more likeable), Tomoyo could've been a great character if she wasn't so violent... And that's another thing! None of the other series had SO much violence!!!
This is supposed to be a touching series! Only spoiler[Fuko and Nagisa's play arcs made me shed a tear.]

But with a good casting from former ADV, I can probably be won over!

Have you watched After Story? It fixes most of those problems because those secondary characters are hardly in it. And it's much more fast paced.

...yes.

Do you call meandering around with supporting characters, in addition with other characters that matter even LESS, for the first 8 episodes better pacing?!?!

Not only that, but spoiler[why is Nagisa so ambitionless??? She is so hard to care about!] And the ending was a joke. Have you seen RahXephon's ending? They're both similar in that spoiler[they use "somthing" to make the situation better by nullifying their past efforts. After Story's even worse because the magic elements are hardly seen throughout the show, and does not even properly hint/foreshadow of such an ending.]

Key's review basically summed it up: cop-out ending.
