Trivia:

Kai (解) means solution, and the anime will consist of the last two solution arcs "Minagoroshi-hen (Massacre Chapter)" and "Matsuribayashi-hen (Festival Accompanying Chapter)".

The Chanting at the end of the opening song "Naraku no Hana" matches the chanting at the beginning of the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni opening song played backwards

The first episode is based on the epilog from the original Tsumihoroboshi-hen game. The part where Furude Rika talks to Ryuugu Rena is from one of the TIPS of the same game.

The second season's opening theme is called "Naraku no Hana", which is sang by Eiko Shimamiya (who also sung the 1st season Higurashi's opening theme song). Part of the first opening theme included the words Nigerarenainda (逃げられないんだ, I can't escape) played backwards, and in the second opening it is played forwards.

In Episode Six, Rika holds up a jar to Hanyuu and begins eating from it to torture her. The jar's label says "Kimuchi" written in Katakana. What's also written is in Korean and translates to "Super spicy Kimchi." Kimchi is a Korean side dish and basically consists of pickled chinese cabbage mixed with crushed chili peppers and has many varieties.

While it is true that "Kai" means Solutions/Results, there are certain synonyms of the Romaji meaning of "Kai" which makes the season two of this popular TV series open ended. This leaves all the possibility for a new season. Here is something interesting. The Word "Kai" also stands for effects. Thus it is possible to conclude that "Higurashi no Naku Koroni Kai" means "The Effects of When The Cicadas Cry" or "The Effects of When They Cry - Higurashi". Another interesting meaning of "Kai" is "Counter for Occurrences", the repeating of the story from Arc to Arc to prevent the Hinamizawa Tragedy in the year of 1983 leads to a conclusion that the word "Kai" might well as mean "Counter of Occurences".

At the very end of the last episode, we see Fredrica Bernkastel warn a young Miyo about her parents deaths.

More about Fredrica, Fredrica is an omni-present being surrounding the Higurashi universe. Frederica is the writer of the poem about Rika's struggle to escape the fate of June 1983, giving hints about each arc. She likes playing with time and events, as seen in puzzle piece #52 and the end of the second season of the anime, entering an alternate world and stopping Miyoko's (Miyo Takano's) parents from dying. She even has an intention of making a world where Rika's or Satoko's parents did not die, or pairing Keiichi with various girls. Although she claims that she is not Rika, it's implied that she is the collective mentality of the several thousand reincarnations of Rika. The pronunciation of Frederica roughly resembles Furude Rika, and Bernkastel is well known for its wine. She is hinted to be one of the witches in Umineko no Naku Koro ni.

The footsteps Satoshi Houjou hears is actually the footsteps of Hanyuu. Hanyuu, being Oyashiro-sama, gets bored when it's another dead-end world, and just follows the most intresting character. Hanyuu also followed Rena, because she was worried Rena might do something that would mess up that Hinamizawa. Rena saw it as a bad omen, when it was just Hanyuu's curiosity.

in the story arcs Watanagashi-hen and Meakashi-hen when shion heard a loud noise in the ritual tool shed it was actually hanyu getting mad at what takano was saying because it isn't true and stomping the ground.
