K-ON! Tops Poll of Anime With Same-Face Characters

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

Have you ever been watching anime and suddenly realize all the characters are identical? You are not alone. The Goo Ranking website asked readers about which anime they think depict "all the characters with similar faces." The site conducted the poll from January 1 to January 22 and posted the results on Saturday.

The girls of K-ON! topped the list with their different hair and outfits but nearly indistinguishable facial features. The members of Sakuragaoka High School's light music club fit the bill for what Goo Ranking describes as "seal picture anime." These types of cookie-cutter characters seem to be drawn using the same stamp for all their faces.

A total of 5,001 people participated in the poll. Here are the top 20 results:

  1. K-ON! (564 votes)
  2. Mr. Osomatsu (542 votes)
  3. Yuruyuri (403 votes)
  4. Captain Tsubasa (381 votes)
  5. Touch (378 votes)
  6. Sazae-san (279 votes)
  7. Attack on Titan (187 votes)
  8. Love Live! (139 votes)
  9. Clannad (124 votes)
  10. Sword Art Online (119 votes)
  11. Nisekoi (118 votes)
  12. Kuroko's Basketball (117 votes)
  13. Gintama (tied at #12 with 117 votes)
  14. Is the order a rabbit? (tied at #12 with 117 votes)
  15. Mobile Suit Gundam Seed (tied at #12 with 117 votes)
  16. Sailor Moon (85 votes)
  17. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (tied at #16 with 85 votes)
  18. Kan Colle (79 votes)
  19. Ranma 1/2 (71 votes)
  20. Girl Friend BETA (55 votes)

Even manga creators confuse their own characters sometimes. Mitsuru Adachi, whose Touch manga ranked fifth in this poll, failed to correctly identify the protagonist of his popular series from a lineup of three characters in 2014.
