Detective Conan, Gundam: The Origin Films Get Collaboration Poster

A collaboration poster is celebrating the Japanese theatrical releases of "Tanjō Akai Suisei" (Rise of the Red Comet), the sixth and last Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin anime, and Meitantei Conan: Zero no Shikkōnin (Detective Conan: Zero's Executioner), the 22nd film in the Detective Conan series. The poster features the Detective Conan characters Conan Edogawa and Tōru Amuro, as well as the Gundam characters Amuro Ray and Char Aznable.
In addition to the character illustrations, the poster features comments from Detective Conan creator Gōshō Aoyama, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin chief director Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, and voice actor Tohru Furuya. Aoyama is a known fan of the Gundam franchise. Furuya plays Amuro Ray in numerous Gundam anime, including Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin, and he also reprises his role as Tōru Amuro in the newest Detective Conan film. Aoyama named the character Tōru Amuro, whose real name is Rei Furuya, after Tohru Furuya and his Gundam character Amuro Ray. Aoyama also named Detective Conan character Shūichi Akai after Char Aznable's "Red Comet" nickname and his voice actor Shūichi Ikeda, who also plays Akai in the Detective Conan anime.
The poster will go on display in some theaters screening the final Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin film on May 18. The official websites for both anime will display the collaboration visual for a limited time beginning on May 15.
The "Tanjō Akai Suisei" (Rise of the Red Comet) anime opened at #9 at the box office in Japan on May 5. In that same weekend, Meitantei Conan: Zero no Shikkōnin remained at #1 for its fourth consecutive week.
