Ghibli's Tales from Earthsea English Cast Announced

Nausicaä.net reports on the English cast of Tales from Earthsea, the latest Studio Ghibli film from Goro Miyazaki, the son of studio founder Hayao Miyazaki. The main cast are Timothy Dalton (Sparrowhawk a.k.a. Ged), Willem Dafoe (Cob), Matt Levin (Arren), Cheech Marin (Hare), Mariska Hargitay (Tenar), and Blaire Restaneo (Therru).
The English dub is available in Japan on Buena Vista Home Entertainment's July 4 DVD, and in the United Kingdom through a limited theatrical engagement starting August 3. The movie will not be officially available in the United States until 2009, due to an earlier live-action Sci Fi Channel adaptation of Ursula K. Le Guin's Earthsea fantasy novels.
The unofficial GhibliWorld.com website has posted an English translation of a Yomiuri Shimbun interview with Naohisa Inoue about Iblard Jikan, Ghibli's CG-animated adaptation of his artwork. Inoue's Iblard colorful expressionist artwork inspired the visuals for the dream sequences of Ghibli's Whisper of the Heart film. Buena Vista released the Iblard Jikan DVD on the same day as the Tales from Earthsea DVD.
