Rie Fu Appears in NYC, Mega Man's Ariga in Toronto

Singer Fu to perform at j-Summit Sunday; Japan Foundation to host Ariga Thursday

The j-Summit New York event has announced that music artist Rie Fu will be appearing at the Studio @ Webster Hall in New York City on Sunday. The summit was created to create a community focused on J-pop, J-rock and Visual-kei music, as well as Goth-Loli and Kawaii fashions. The event is limiting its audience to 18 years old and older.

Fu was born in Tokyo in 1985, and she has performed music for various anime titles such as Bleach, D.Gray-man, Darker than Black, and Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny. In 2006, Fu was approached by a independent London label, Twenty Years of Boredom, about an English album. Who is Rie Fu? shipped in February 2008.

In a separate development, Udon Entertainment has announced that Hitoshi Ariga, creator of the Mega Man Megamix and Big O manga, will appear in Canada for the first time at The Japan Foundation on Thursday. The event will celebrate the launch of the second Mega Man Megamix manga volume from Udon Entertainment in North America. Ariga will also appear at Toronto's CNAnime convention during the August 27-29 weekend.

Mega Man Megamix is based on the games by CAPCOM where a blue robot fights for justice. Mega Man battles the villian Dr. Wily, who uses robots for his own demented ways and forces Megaman to go against his anti-violence ways to fight his fellow robots.

While The Japan Foundation event is open to the public, organizers will be capping the attendance at 100, and an RSVP is required. To attend, fans must RSVP at (416) 966-1600 ext. 103 or online at http://www.jftor.org/whatson/rsvp.php.
