Kadokawa began streaming a 15-second commercial and a 30-second commercial for the television anime of Masume Yoshimoto's Kuma Miko: Girl Meets Bear manga on Tuesday. Maki Hanatani from idol group Fullfull☆Pocket is performing the opening theme song "Datte, Gyutte Shite" that is heard in the first commercial, while Machi Amayadori (as voiced by Natsumi Hioka) and Natsu Kumai (Hiroki Yasumoto) are performing the ending theme "KUMAMIKO DANCING" in the second one.
Machi: In the mountains of the Tohoku region, there's a place called Kumademura.
Natsu: The town is home to a bear that speaks the language of the humans...
Machi: And a shrine maiden with a rural complex.
Natsu: Together, Natsu the sun bear
Machi: And the shrine maiden Machi weave together
Both: A fluffy country life story. Kumamiko.
Natsu: Broadcasts start in April.
Yoshimoto's original manga follows Machi, a middle school student who serves as a shrine maiden (miko) at a Shinto shrine enshrining a bear (kuma) in the recesses of a certain mountain in Japan's northern Tōhoku region. Machi's guardian is a talking bear named Natsu, and one day Machi says to Natsu, "I want to go to a school in the city." The worrywart Natsu then gives Machi — who is ignorant in the ways of the world — a set of trials that she must pass in order to be able to survive in the city.
The anime stars:
- Natsumi Hioka (Witch Craft Works' Kotetsu Katsura) as Machi Amayadori
- Hiroki Yasumoto (Bleach's Chad, Hetalia's Germany, Yowamushi Pedal's Shingo Kinjō) as Natsu Kumai
- Kazuyuki Okitsu (Prison School's Andre) as Yoshio Amayadori, Machi's cousin
- Eri Kitamura (Durarara!!×2's Mairu Orihara) as Hibiki Sakata, Yoshio's childhood friend
Kiyoshi Matsuda (episode director for Wagnaria!!, Natsume's Book of Friends season 3, Durarara!!) is making his directorial debut with the series at Kinema Citrus and EMT Squared. Pierre Sugiura (Yuyushiki, Barakamon) and Masao Iketani are writing the scripts, and Hiroyuki Saida (My mental choices are completely interfering with my school romantic comedy) is designing the characters and serving as chief animation director.
The anime will premiere on AT-X on April 3 at 11:30 p.m., and it will also air on Tokyo MX, Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, Higashinippon Broadcasting, Niigata Broadcasting, and BS11.
