FanimeCon, Symphony Silicon Valley to Host Joe Hisaishi Symphonic Concert in May

Northern California anime convention FanimeCon announced on March 22 that composer Joe Hisaishi will conduct a symphonic concert at this year's event. The performance, hosted in collaboration with Symphony Silicon Valley, will feature Hisaishi's music for Studio Ghibli films.

The concert will be held daily from May 25-28 at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts.

Joe Hisaishi is an acclaimed composer known for collaborating with director Hayao Miyazaki on his Studio Ghibli films. He composed the themes and music for Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Porco Rosso, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, The Wind Rises, and many more, including Miyazaki's "Boro the Caterpillar" short that debuted last month. He also composed or performed music pieces for various anime such as Your Lie in April, Mobile Suit Gundam - The Movie Trilogy, and Voltron.

FanimeCon 2018 will be held from May 25-28 at the San Jose Convention Center. Bilingual singer nano, voice actress Satomi Satou, voice actor Ryōtarō Okiayu will also attend the event.
