The Japan Racing Association (JRA) announced on Wednesday that it has launched a new collaboration with the Pop Team Epic anime. As in the last year's collaboration, the new collaboration features a new short. Production team AC-bu handled the "high speed kamishibai (paper theater)" short with the return of character Hellshake Yano, as a jockey in a horse race. The collaboration also has a new visual.
The new collaboration will run until June 30. It will also involve new figures based on the anime's "Bob Epic Team" ("Bobunemimimmi") segments that will feature a JRA-exclusive color.
The earlier Pop Team Epic television anime series premiered in January 2018. HIDIVE, Funimation, Crunchyroll, AsianCrush, and Amazon Prime Video all streamed the anime as it aired in Japan. Adult Swim's Toonami block aired the series starting last June.
The anime also received a new two-episode special that premiered on April 1. Sentai Filmworks simulcasted the specials on HIDIVE, and it also simulcasted on Crunchyroll, AsianCrush, Midnight Pulp, and Amazon Prime.
The anime adapts a surreal four-panel manga by Bkub Okawa that centers around two 14-year-old girls, the short Popuko and the tall Pipimi.
