Anime Limited Makes Statement on Problem With New Nadia Release

posted on by Andrew Osmond
One episode on the Blu-ray discs (not 4K UHD discs) is unplayable; Anime Limited announces a replacement disc scheme

Anime Limited has posted a statement regarding its recently released new editions of Gainax's science-fiction adventure anime Nadia - The Secret of Blue Water. This series was released as an Ultimate Edition (pictured) with the 39-part series on five Blu-rays and four 4K UHD discs. The anime was also released as a standard Blu-ray edition.

According to the statement, part 18 of the series on the second Blu-ray disc cannot be played, either from the episode menu or from the "Play All" function. This issue does not affect the same episode on the UHD Blu-ray disc on the Ultimate edition.

According to the statement, "Anime Limited apologise unreservedly for this error, which originated from an unusual issue which as a result escaped our usual disc QC [quality control] process. Changes have already been made to this process to prevent this kind of issue occurring again...

"We are currently in the process of correcting this error and replicating a new version of the affected disc, which we will be offering as a replacement to any customers affected by this issue. We expect these discs to be available to customers from January 2024, if not sooner."

Customers who purchased the series from the AllTheAnime website will have a replacement disc shipped automatically to the address where they placed the order.

Customers who bought the series from another retailer should send an email to shop.uk@alltheanime giving their postal address, proof of purchase and a photo of "disc 2" - specifically the numbers near the end of the text around the outer edge of the disc.

Anime Limited adds that "all stock has been recalled and quarantined, so any existing orders for this product should ship from retailers using updated, fixed stock once available."
