Japanese Film Festival Screens The First Slam Dunk, 'Gold Kingdom and Water Kingdom,' Voltes V: The Liberation in the Philippines

The Japan Foundation, Manila announced the films and screening schedules on Wednesday for this year's Japanese Film Festival in the Philippines. The film festival will screen in various locations and dates in Metro Manila, Baguio, Cebu, Davao, and Iloilo. The film festival will run from February 1 to March 3, and will have free admission to all screenings. The screening includes the following films:
- The First Slam Dunk
- Gold Kingdom and Water Kingdom
- Detective Conan: The Time Bombed Skyscraper
- Detective Conan: The Private Eyes' Requiem
- And Yet, You Are So Sweet
- Voltes V: Legacy - The Cinematic Experience
- Voltes V: The Liberation
The event will also have screenings of the We Made a Beautiful Bouquet, Tokyo Story, Not Quite Dead Yet, Angry Son, MONDAYS: See You “This” Week!, The Father of the Milky Way Railroad, and A Man films.
The First Slam Dunk already opened in the Philippines in February 2023. The film is the 13th highest-earning film of all-time in Japan, surpassing Hayao Miyazaki's 2008 anime film Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea, which has 15.5 billion yen (around US$105.8 million) in domestic earnings. The First Slam Dunk is also the seventh highest-earning anime film in Japan. It is the highest-earning film in Japan in 2023.
