This isn't surprising. Haven't heard of Media Blasters dubbing - let alone licensing - anything in ages.

I'm pretty surprised they could hang on for as long as they did.

I think people are just reading the headline and not the article itself. If you actually bothered to click the link you'd see Media Blasters confirmed and states exactly "MB Voiceworks closing will NOT effect our dub production" so this will not effect them dubbing things in the future and will continue with the Scheduled Juden Chan and Rio dubs. Which is great news considering their recent bluray release of Ladies vs Butlers not only looked absolutely fantastic but had one of the BEST dubs I have ever heard and its amazing when you consider most of the voice cast for that show aren't very well known VA.

Keep up the great work Media Blasters cant wait to see how great the Juden Chan and Rio dubs come out to be Anime smile

@DuchessBianca

Your enthusiasm for English dubs is commendable. But having the misfortune of listening the awful dub for the also awful Holy Knight anime, I have to side with DmonHiro.

Nowdays people in general have a hard time reading more than one sentence. And there are some that just read the title...

Still surpised that Media Blasters didn't quit with anime yet. In the past they did deliver amazing dubs like Squid Girl, Twelve Kingdoms and more. But last few years.... Their DVD releases, at least the print on order, are garbage. Instead of actually playing the normal way on my DVD player it went in some weird blue menu. Only through my Computer im able to play it. Another thing is, with Ladies versus butlers i got two disc2's despite disc3 having the disc3 cover..... I dont know if thise problems are with the blu-rays as well. Just be carefull to buy DVD's from them. Kanokon and ladies versus butlers were like that.....

I haven't listened to the Holy Knight dub as it seems it's only available via streaming and not available on home video as I wait until the latter before I watch something so I can't and wasn't commenting on that particular dub but for LvB the dub imo was amazing so thats where I'm basing my hope for Rio/Juden Chan. If your agreement with DmonHiro also extends to the LvB dub then that's fine, everyone's entitled to their own opinions but I'll have to disagree with you both. As for Holy Knight I have no opinion either way since I haven't listened to it.

I want to wish Brittany & Melanie the very best of luck with their voice-over careers.

I have not listened to the dub of Ladies vs Butlers; I made my judgment based on the dub for Holy Knight. I assumed that the people who dubbed HN will be unable to do a good dub for another show, but apparently I was wrong.

And unless things have changed, Holy Knight should be available with the English dub on Crunchyroll.

Yeah I'm pretty surprised too but it seems they are getting more active recently which is nice. Though I do agree with the DVD-R practice's. Yosuga No Sora DVD-R quality is worse then VHS quality which makes me sad as it's one of the animes I've been hoping gets licensed forever Sad Not sure if my disc is defective but the DVD'R quality seems quite bad and when I go to play then it makes my PS3 sound like its going to explode an it scares me Anime hyper I agree of the earlier dubs too. Squid Girl was great, <3 Christine Cabanos really, really want S2 licensed so badly Anime cry Though I own the bluray of LvB and if you have the means to play it id highly suggest you get it, no issues with playback and the video quality is amazing, Aniplex of America tier, think they used 2 BD 50's too.

That's fair! I'm unsure of the cast list for HK so I'm unable to see if there are more or less the same but the MC for the dub if a fairly new VA and I was shocked to learn that it wasn't Justin Cook as he sounds VERY similar and I could have sworn I was listening to Yusuke from YYH haha so if you are familiar with Cook and enjoy him you should enjoy the MC's performance in the LvB dub.

Yeah I'll probably check it out eventually but like I mentioned I usually don't like streaming and prefer blind buying before watching anything since I enjoy pretty much everything but I'll probably have to make an exception like I had to with the Free S1 dub as it was crunchy exclusive as well.

That's too bad, although MB VoiceWorks was essentially the dub team for Media Blasters, even if they were separate companies, and Media Blasters probably didn't release things with enough frequency to sustain that arrangement.

Fortunately, it's only this small sub-company that's shutting down and not Media Blasters themselves. Smile Although, I have to say that it's amazing that Media Blasters is still present despite the multiple setbacks that put them in a vulnerable spot some years earlier.

I'd barely even call them "present" at this point. I mean, their current sale on RightStuf is one of the saddest things I've ever seen: it consists of the few new licenses they've managed to trickle out over the past few years, the dregs of the decent titles they've long since lost the licenses to, and page after page of live-action B-movies. (Oh, and porn, don't forget about all the porn!) Hell, even the few older licenses they've retained aren't immune to the cheapskate DVD-R release method; I picked up a set of Ramen Fighter Miki a few months back that was clearly in that format.
