Wait, what? So is this essentially going to be a series of three-minute commercials? It's one thing to have KFC be the primary sponsor and get the series named after them (like what we have with Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom), but it sounds like the stories themselves will be dramas about ordering and eating KFC food.
I know KFC is a wild success in east Asia and all, but it sounds ridiculous. Still, I guess I shouldn't be talking, considering I watch a show that's essentially a 30-minute toy commercial which, as of this coming Saturday, will begin its 7th season. |

Will it feature Mel Gibson as the Colonel?
And here's the reference to that joke. |

The title of "Kentucky What If Theater" makes me think of this scene from Project A-ko.

I may decide to go to KFC to enjoy some of their seasoned fried chicken after this...

In Japan, there are as many, if not more, KFC's on every corner than McDonald's, only they still have the old-fashioned plastic Colonel Sanders statues out front. (While our US McDonald's have mostly retired the Ronald McDonald statues, not counting one that was stolen in our college town.) It's the statue, more than the restaurant, that's become the kitschy symbol of American Pop-Cultural Invasion, and while they like the secret recipe, the idea of buying a family bucket for Christmas dinner is that much more "Hey, get us, we're being American!" If our current borderline-tasteless "Alec Baldwin is the Colonel" ads (uh, there was a real Colonel, you know: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wk4Eq8IcQMk ) come off a bit of a dogpiled pop-culture target, that's nothing compared to Japanese "Who's that weird creepy American with the goatee on our streets?" jokes. But yes, that's what made A-ko's Harmageddon parody funnier. |

What's better than shedding off that extra weight? Have a hot young Japanese lady promote even more stuff to add to said weight?
