Not sure what to think of this idea. On one hand, it may make the double paywall seem more worth it (I'd prefer they'd get rid of it). On the other hand however, some folk could just apply for a free trial, download some shows and then bounce. Well, looks like I know what I'll be doing at the end of the season
 . Kidding, but still I don't think this is a bad idea. It's not everyday I see downloadable options on a legal streaming platform. Interesting move on their part.

They've been offering this for a while now actually. The free manga has been offered since near the beginning of the service, and most (if not all) of Amazon's content can be downloaded to watch offline later, but there's still security restrictions in place and they expire after a while. They can only be played back with the app.

I don't get why Amazon gets world wide licensing rights outside Japan and then offers the service only in the USA.

It's not USA only, or to be precise, international Amazon video users get access to the anime without the requirement to add the extra strike fee. |

Source? International Amazon video users only get access to selected series - in UK currently 3 spring-season simulcasts, and delays are common. Most older Anime Strike series are also unavaiable there. So you get less than a half of the content, but still have to pay over 100$ a year. I guess it's similar in CA or AU, but I can't prove it as they protected even the content-listings with a paywall & IP-wall there. |

Anime Strike is not available in Europe. I can see Bahamut Virgin Soul and Re:Creators out of the current catalogue on Prime. The rest is not available |

Promoting the product, make sure the Anime consuming public / existing Prime users know what's available. Could it be that the numbers aren't what Amazon was expecting? Wonder why?

Unless you wanted to disconnect the device you had the episodes were on from the internet, don't expect those episodes to remain when you cancel your subscription. Even then, they would cease to be playable after a certain amount of time. This is the same function Amazon Prime has offered for a while, and is meant to support offline viewing, and isn't a "download once & keep forever" function. |

In au/nz there's 31 anime in total. 3 are simulcast shows. Cost is 2.99 usd a month so I'm not sure where you got the $100+ a year from. The only real awesome thing is that American Gods is now on amazon plus all of the old Nanoha. I was cosidering dropping it but it is pretty cheep ... and American Gods!!!! |

Scruffy, In the US you have to have Amazon Prime ($99) before you can get to the Anime titles, then it's an extra $4.99 per month. Total cost for a year is approx. $160.00. If you are getting it for $2.99 US then you have a steal going. Mark Gosdin |

If I'm correct the price in AU is an introduction offer for the first 6 months, after that, the price will double. So you get 3 out of 12 simulcasts, but still have to pay 72$ instead of 160$? @Marzan: Saekano 2 should be avaiable in Europe, too. |
