One Word... Awesome.

Not sure but this the first Gonzo movie. It looks like action heavy Ghibili Feature.

It looks very neat! I hope it comes to the US in some way (fansub or license).

Is this GONZO's first movie? What happened to their other movies?

That looked awsome!
Hopefully the story is as good as the visuals (I don't understand much Japanese, so I couldn't tell).

I think this is Gonzo's second movie production (their first is Gin-iro no kami no Agito, which has yet to be released). They only helped out with other movies like Howl's Moving Castle.

So, what is Brave Story about?

Since Warner has it, do you think that it will have a theatrical run?

As far as I can gather from the dialogue, the main character has to go to another world through that door featured prominently in the trailer, as doing so gives him a chance to change his fate by the fulfillment of one wish. Apparently, the wish he wants to make is to bring his mother healed/brought back to life, as she is shown to have collapsed and been taken away in an ambulance; as the trailer doesn't make clear if she was near death, actually dead, or so on, I can't get more precise than that, unless I missed something, which is far too well within the bounds of reason to please me. *ahem* Also, he is warned that if he makes any mistakes, he won't be able to return to his own world.

I certainly hope it'll receive a theatrical run. Gonzo always manages to have shiny graphics, if not thorough plots (this is where I aaaargh at the end of Last Exile); thus, a large screen would certainly showcase their work's finer qualities...

Brave Story is not their first movie, the upcoming Gin-iro no kami no Agito will be Gonzo's first movie.

Gonzo has worked on other movies before, but Gin-iro no kami no Agito is the first movie that is their production. In the other movies they were merely hired to work on someone elses project.

Scene with the protagonist on the stairs in front of the gate lingers far too long considering the rest of what they show at the end of the trailer... Pacing was off.

Sorry, it's the editor in me. Wink

I would say though that if Warner's already heading the distro over there, there's a good chance it'll happen here through them as well. Highly unusual to see an American company handling a foreign production, even more strange to see Warner (who really hasn't had anything to do with anime) behind it. Maybe they finally woke up and saw the success that Columbia Tristar/Sony have been having with it and realized there's a niche for them as well. Heck, even Disney saw it years ago and snatched up the library of the biggest name in anime film. Cool
