I'm not really sure what to expect from this so I'm keeping expectations low. This keyviz looks more like fanart than something official. Completely lacks the charm or style of the original. To be honest it worries me more than anything.

hopefully it doesn't turn out to be a mistake, but it's going to be hard to do the original any justice, especially after all this time has passed and many staffers from the project have long since moved on.

Well, I personally have some hope for these new installments. There exists other aspects of the world that can provide interesting elements to happen that don’t necessarily have to closely resemble the original to still be entertaining. Even if they’re not that great, the original will not go anywhere.

The most pointless sequel since Highlander 2.

Those are just headphones. A woman where I work has a pair like that.

I like how they have given the visuals a tweak, while still keeping the overall style the same. Good job

So, going by the math both of the movies could have a running time of over 2 1/2 hours each. Unless there's footage exclusive to the TV episode version.

I enjoyed the original series, even though it was hard to follow at times. Keeping my expectations low for the new series, but I'll definately check it out when it airs on Adult Swim. Too bad Trigger isn't involved in the animation department.

I didn't even think about this as a possibility, but it would be a different kind of interesting if they were, wouldn't it?

The opposite.

Assuming (and hoping) it's going to be anything like the original, marathoning a whole series of FLCL blind sounds... overwhelming. I feel a bit bad for them ^^;

Well they are drawn by the same person who drew the Key Visuals for the first series, as well as designed those characters, so I don't know what to tell you. Confused

It's a lot of Bones veterans, including some of the same staff from the original(Tsurumaki is still supervising even), as well as some of the most talented youngsters working right now across the industry, so I don't think there is much to worry about. Trigger being in the Animation Department would honestly almost definitely create a worse production, overall. And I say that as a very big fan of them. This is in much better hands with Oshiyama, Sadamoto, Kubota, and Arai, among the many others.
Anyway, I don't know why people are so worried about this not looking good or having the wrong feel. Even if the story is trash, it's going to be a brilliant looking show.

This is Sadamoto's art. His art for the original looks (style) exactly the same. All his works have the same style
