Oh wow I didn't expect a dub out of this but that just makes me more excited. Hope some screenings come to my area.

I really wish they would release this via Fathom Events. I’m not about to drive 180 miles to the closest theater to see this.

The way I read this article -- and it really should have been made clearer -- is that the English dub won't be ready in time for the theatrical showings. They're only going to be exhibiting the original Japanese version of the film with English subtitles.

Obviously, the dub will be on the eventual home video release. I would guess GKids/Shout Factory will probably pick this one up. SOMEBODY is licensing this but they haven't announced which home video company it is yet.

Most of the recent anime feature screenings I've attended have been dub-only screenings or alternate nights for the dub and sub versions. There have been a few films I've seen where there was no dub (Mazinger Z: Infinity, FSN: Heaven's Feel, Lyrical Nanoha: Ignition). FSN: Heaven's Feel is the first where they're returning the film to theaters 6-8 months later with a dub after a first-time sub-only release.

By far, the most packed theater I was in was for Fate/Stay Night: Heaven's Feel. There were at least 150-200 people in that theater. None of the other films were even close to packed. At one showing, I was the only person there! The average I've noticed has been around 15.

Obviously, the dubs might help bring in more people for the already limited audience these films face in North America but ultimately they might be bigger sales drivers for the DVD and Blu ray releases.

Now, with Lu Over the Wall this past weekend, I saw dub-only screenings which is becoming more the norm.
Ticket pricing is all over the place for these films. For more mass-market (like Lu was), it's closer to $10.50-$11 but I've paid up to $16 for a ticket.
The Fathom events are definitely more expensive than exhibitions of Studio Ghibli and what might become GKids licenses (Lu Over the Wall ticket was $10.50).
The tickets aren't THAT bad for where I live and frankly I would rather see most anime features nowadays than what Hollywood is releasing now -- including the Disney or PIxar feature films! The anime features are better than most of the anime TV shows now which was not the case about 10 years ago... The anime feature market is alive despite Ghibli's lack of presence the past few years.
