Funimation's website lists that the other anime, including the rest of the Galaxy Angel series anime, will stream with English subtitles and an English dub in the U.S. and Canada. Pita-Ten, Fantastic Detective Labyrinth, Rental Magica, and Umi Monogatari have not previously had an English dub.

So does that mean Funi will be dubbing them?

It could be a mishap on Funimation's part.

Can't wait for the the day when the streaming monopolies end. Only 1st party titles should be exclusive to one platform. Almost no anime is "1st party" - basically only Aniplex USA stuff and they do stream on multiple services. There's no real competition in the current anime streaming market. You have to get almost all services to watch even half the anime that comes out. If you pay monthly it's over $500 a year. Insane.

Last I checked Rental Magica was legally streaming on YouTube as well on nozomient's channel btw.

Yeah, it seems more likely it's an error - maybe they meant to say, "Galaxy Angel Rune is sub-only, but the other Galaxy Angels have sub and dub" - but it'd be neat for them to try dubbing some of those older anime, even if they're faced with the restriction that's keeping Media Blasters or just about anyone from producing a dub of Yamibou (read: vocal and music/SFX tracks aren't separate).

I'm surprised they got Pita-Ten, because I'm pretty sure Nozomi Entertainment still holds the license for that series.

Nozomi does own it. This is part of the funimation/nozomi/right stuff collaboration. Nozomi titles have been making their way on to funimation periodically for the last 6ish months.

What would cause that to happen? Content owners seem to be benefiting from the status quo, as do streaming companies. It's a pain for customers, but the past decade of evidence suggests that that hasn't been nearly a strong enough force. When half the stuff you want is on Netflix and the other half's on Amazon Prime, most people are more inclined to get both than neither.

It’s going to be a few years before the streaming wars are decided. My thoughts are once cable is but a distant memory, streaming platforms will eventually drive up their prices.

I wonder if this will mean these series end up on AnimeLab and Wakanim...

Interesting. I was not aware of that.

So far the only Nozomi titles to get onto AnimeLab after Funi started transferring their shows to them are Gravitation and Ninja Nonsense. So anything goes I guess

While we might gripe that the status quo is less than ideal, I certainly don't think it's much of a pain compared to the options we had for watching anime in the past. It wasn't that long ago that we had no streaming so if you wanted to watch something you were stuck renting physical tapes or DVDs, or buying them at insane prices. Paying $500 a year to watch "everything" via streaming services is a lot of money, but it's nothing compared to what anime used to cost. The last decade has only seen anime become more accessible to those outside Japan.

Well Rightstuf/Nozomi titles did appear on the Funimation Channel. But that no longer exists, so came up with a modern alternative.

I'm surprised that Nozomi even has Galaxy Angel X and Rune, as afaik they hadn't announced them before. They can't have been great sellers back in the day, as Rune's 1st 3 volumes were recently being sold for $2 apiece in a clearance sale at rightstufanime. (Vol. 4 likely had a ridiculously low print run that's kept it exceptionally rare and pricey for ages.) And RSA is still blowing out copies of Bandai's 2008 Galaxy Angel X release for $15.

It should also be noted that Galaxy Angel X only has 8 of 26 episodes dubbed, as Bandai pulled the plug amidst the 2008 recession and market crash.

Unfortunately, dubbing older anime like these just isn't a good business decision. From a perspective of disc publishers, dual-language anime typically sell more than sub-only releases, but that extra sales boost isn't enough to offset the extra costs of dubbing for many marginal/niche titles. That's one thing that helped tank the industry back in that 2007-08 timeframe; nearly everything got dubbed, but many titles didn't sell enough to recover the costs of dubbing, licensing, or both. And if the titles in this article didn't merit dubs when they were first released, it certainly wouldn't make sense to dub them now. That's why you see Nozomi going to Kickstarter to dub shows like Aria and Emma -- the costs of dubbing get provided upfront, so they're not risking a huge loss if sales don't materialize.

With Funimation acquisitions like this, we should (unless explicitly specified otherwise) assume it's just titles being added to Funimation's streaming site, with no expectations of future dubs or physical re-releases. Same with the various Aniplex USA titles that Funimation has added in recent months.
