I have always wondered about the use of Chinese names when translating Japanese made stuff. It is particularly annoying and confusing when watching anime in the original Japanese audio with the subtitles using totally different names from what is spoken.

That's definitely an issue. Mostly, though, I just want consistency - both subtitles and book translations ought to use the same names in my picky mind.
