Stunning visuals as expected.
I still like idol more in terms of song, but still a great openning and clip.

If it were supposed to be a 93 minute premiere, why did Crunchyroll receive it as 4 separate episodes? I would have preferred to watch it as an uninterrupted movie Confused

Because it was just four episodes aired at once for broadcast. It wasn't a movie they cut up into episodes.

It wouldn’t be the first time they’ve done that either it’s the same with the Kaguya sama love is war movie they released it on CR in episode format, I wonder if maybe it could be a licencing thing?

It was produced as 4 separate eps regardless of the circumstances of how it aired for the premiere on jp tv. Just seems to me CR got the eps separately.

I feel it's more of a bitrate/file size thing.

Seems that people based their expectations on Oshi no Ko which was a extra-length episode, while in Frieren's case it's 4 episodes that just happened to air back-to-back. (Not sure if the TV airing had the OPs and EDs for every episode, but if they're there for streaming and home video it doesn't really matter.) It's pretty clear from the structure that they weren't intended to be one long episode.

I'm just pleased I could watch so much of the series at once because I got hooked quickly. But of course there will be people who will find a way to be angry about it.

Well, today's the day! I wonder if Crunchyroll servers are up to the task.

Anyone know if or when this is getting an English dub?

Both are certified bangers. I definitely wasn't expecting that from Yoasobi.

Except what was on NTV was actually one long episode, with no openings/endings in between.

Actually, the streaming version did not even get the special insert ED from Milet - because all the episodes (at least on Crunchy) got the same ED.

Just finished all 4 episodes on Crunchyroll during peak watch time, and no problems at all at high def.

The pre-hype for Frieren, is not hype. This is a solid work.
Madhouse is beyond expectations. They are doing the story exactly as it reads in the Manga, and their interpretation is a work of art. All the characters are exactly as I imagined them. The ED both animation and music is stunning.

Also I read quite a few of the comments, and they are almost all positive. Those watching seem to like it.

So this could be one winning ride for the Fall.

After watching the first two episodes, I'm pretty happy with the adaptation so far. A couple of scenes could've been animated a bit better, but overall it's pretty dang fantastic. I was a bit worried about the anime, since a lot of its charm lies in these little isolated single-panel scenes, but they did a pretty good job making those work in a montage format.

Not really a big fan of the opening music/animation, but the ending is SPECTACULAR.

Can't wait to see just how much they'll wind up adapting. I could easily see this being my favorite anime of 2023 -- and, honestly, it's already very nearly there.
