I hope it's an actual new television series this time. That would be great!

I'll be picking up the original series when Discotek puts it out this summer.

Here's hoping the rumors are true and Koike ends up being the director.

And yeah, I strongly encourage everyone who enjoys older anime to purchase Discotek's first series release this summer. Ghibli fans might also be interested seeing as how Miyazaki and Takahata worked on over half the episodes.

I take it that they'll use the old & new mix of seiyuu from Chi no Kokuin Eien no Mermaid :

Daisuke Namikawa as Goemon Ishikawa
Kanichi Kurita as Lupin III
Kiyoshi Kobayashi as Daisuke Jigen
Kouichi Yamadera as Inspector Zenigata
Miyuki Sawashiro as Fujiko Mine

I'll be getting it. Smile

After all, the show has the theme song with lyrics that EVERYONE can memorize plus the greatest BGM ever!

Lupin with 2012 visuals could be interesting. I just hope this gets subtitled and simulcasted...

He's the one~/Everybody's waiting for~/Scream for him~/A romantic modern hero~!

Sorry, couldn't resist. I'm a massive Lupin fanboy, and cosplayed as him to AWAcon last year (even though most of my peers had no clue who he was.) The new special was fantastic, and one of the best in my opinion. The prospect of a new series makes me giddy, and I can't wait to see what comes of this!

I'm trying really hard not to get excited for this yet after what happened last time. But if it does turn out to be true, that long, high-pitched, girly fanboy scream you hear from down South? Yeah. That'll be me. Razz

The cast changes are very likely hear to stay it appears Eiko Masuyama and Goro Naya have been permanently replaced, which is understandable given those actors' ages (it's the same case in other franchises, such as Scooby-Doo). Based on the recent special, it's likely the franchise has been totally rebooted with revised character designs, new animation style, and new voice actors.
