The show's been around in Singapore for only 2 1/2 years and it's shutting down so soon? Could this be due to insufficient funding and/or rights disputes with some shows that was on Hello Japan?

From what I heard, Japanese culture just lost currency in Singapore, having been bounced out by, you guessed it, Korean pop culture.

Honestly, I think that it's far more complicated and nuanced than that. Conventions like AFA and the number of anime-only channels on cable TV are strong evidence that the popularity of anime is still strong, and is continuing to grow. If you ask me, it's a mix of poor marketing, poor programming and poor organization.

Alright, I'm no Singaporean but I'm curious if Singapore has other channels besides Hello Japan that showcases anime, Japanese dramas and all sorts of Japanese culture?

Singapore has one main kid's channel called Okto that broadcasts some anime (e.g. Cardfight!! Vanguard) There are two big Telco service providers, Singtel and Starhub that dominate the cable channels here. Both have one dedicated channel for anime broadcasts that sometimes have the latest titles on air. Singtel has ANIPLUS and Starhub has Animax Asia. I was mildly aware of Hello! Japan, but I could never find it anywhere on my cable channels provided.

On the culture side, Singapore's own Channel News Asia broadcasts a subbed program called Japan Hour on the weekends that documents the country's local tourism (whichever prefecture's hot springs bath or cuisine of the week).
