One wonders how long PonyCams foray into trying to be AoA will last. I enjoyed Cute High a lot, but it's a bit of a watch once & move on show that I probably wouldn't pay standard boxset prices for, let along premium con...I mean collector prices.

winner of winter 2014's unwieldiest title

I'm pretty sure this is a winter 2015 show, or am I misunderstanding a joke?

Anyway, I enjoyed this show a lot, and it is indeed a shame that PonyCan licensed this one, because those prices, OMG! I do hope that at some point there's a single BD pack release with all the episodes at a much lower price, but I think that's not the way it works. Sad

So sad that Funimation didn't get the license for this. Did they figure they had fulfilled their fangirl dues for the year with Free?

Yes, this was a winter 2015 show.

The little blond one, Yumoto in this case, is the perky leader in pink

Ryuu (Battle Lover Vesta, the "lady-killer") is pink. Yumoto (Battle Lover Scarlet, the one who likes animals) is red.

Love Battler names quite line up: some are colors, some are elements, and there's one guy named after a sword.

It's Battle Lovers, not Love Battlers (unless that was a joke). Plus unless the sword thing was a joke, that's incorrect too. If you're talking about the main 4 girls of Happiness Charge (Lovely, Princess, Fortune and Honey) they don't fit that quota. Cure Sword of the season before HaCha (Doki Doki) would fit, though.

Lord Zendar

It's Zundar, not Zendar, but that may just be a stray typo.

It is a joke, albeit a lame one - they certainly don't seem to love battling, although Wombat thinks they're battling for love. Embarassed

As for the PreCure name scheme, what I meant was less literal than you took it: I meant simply that there's no clear theme to their magical alter ego names. Shows like Sailor Moon had a clear celestial body theme, the Magic Knights in Rayearth were all elemental, Wedding Peach's Love Angels all had flower names. If that's the era of magical girl you're most familiar with (as might be logical, since only the first season of PreCure is legally available to North American viewers [not sure about other English-speaking countries]), then the lack of a unifying naming scheme might seem weird. I just picked HaCha because it had the most varied names for the Pretty Cures.

And yes, Zendar/Zundar was a type-o. Not sure how 2014 slipped in there, though... Shocked

I do wonder too, I'm not as bothered by AoA like prices as I get lots of cheap funi and sentai titles to even it out, the thing that upsets me is that they have high prices and its also sub only. I bought the yuki yuna sets but unfortunately this set is too much for me as someone who prefers dubs.

I do wonder what they'll do in the future as so far out of the 4 series they have/are releasing 3 are sub only. I read some time ago that 3 of their upcoming titles they plan to dub as long as they sell so I'll keep and eye out and support them with my money if they are infact dubbed.

They may need to change their style of CE's though if they want any long term staying power as being a collector myself they aren't the easiest or most considerate sets to try and display.
