I don't think of the idea as stupid, but I find it pointless. The kid will focus on the pokemon more then its teaching. I mean I think i will learn a thing or two, if its like how many water type pokemon there is? There is 5! Would maybe help young kids learn numbers.
So its a O.K idea in my book.

Pfft. You should know there's much more than 5 different water type pokemon.

I mean....I don't expect this to be too popular. The kids who were fans of it when it was big when they were younger are now teenagers and will deny their previous (or current) fandom. The little kids were just babies when Pokemon was big...so I'm doubting it's as big with them now as it was when I liked it.

This could have worked somehow. Quite possibly help in a way using Pokemon, like Math or understanding things in a different way. Like, if Pikachu's thunder came down from the sky, what would you do to protect yourself? spoiler[hide of course]

The problem with this is, as Awesome Possum has said, the kids who used to love Pokemon (even me) have grown more and aren't in to Pokemon anymore. The kids of today aren't as in to Pokemon as the rest of us used to be.

I also agree that the kids will remember the pokemon more than what they are supposed to be learning. For example, how many of you remember Mr. McGruff. Okay now those who do, do you remember any of the crap he taught you. Well for me the answer is no. I remember Mr. McGruff but none of the stuff that we were supposed to. Plus if we show pokemon to like 5th grader, I think they would more likely make fun of it than anything else. But whatever, let them do what they want, what we say isn't really going to matter.
