I have not an ill word to say against the original She and Her Cat. The palette of this adaptation seems less muted though, and indeed the cat in question appears unfamiliar. Perhaps Shinkai has decided, rightly or otherwise, that a few changes were due.

I'm imagining this will be a short anime, by the look of things. I can't imagine this working in anything more than 5-minute episodes.

It's a short indeed, It airs in that Ultra Super Anime Time slot on Tokyo MX. 4 episodes of 5mins like the other shorts that aired before it in that timeslot. |

From what I can gather, he has no involvement in this at all. |

It clearly says it airs 23:00-23:30 on MX. Doesn't it? |

Ehhh... The original short film is among my favorite works of anime, but so far this seems like a pale imitation of the original work (obviously not literally, given this iteration's use of vivid color, which would have only served to undermine the original work) .
I guess I'll try to keep an open mind and give it a chance to stand on its own. |

The original work is not really fit for a series of shorts; it's pretty complete in its original state. I believe the shorts only use the concept, but don't try to be the same or tell the same story.
And I prefer it that way. I don't see this as a Shinkai work, but as something new based on a Shinkai work, and something that doesn't need to be Shinkaiesque. |

That's the length of the entire block. Which usually(or always?) shows 3 shows during it's 30 minute runtime. This lists the past and upcoming calendar. |

From playing a bird-loving Crow in Yu-Gi-Oh! to a cat in this series, Asanuma-san is moving up the food chain.
