Eleven Arts Reveals U.S. Screening Locations for A Silent Voice

posted on by Karen Ressler

Eleven Arts Anime Studio revealed a list of 51 United States theaters that will screen A Silent Voice this October. The locations and dates are available on Eleven Arts' website. All screenings will be in Japanese with English subtitles and will begin as early as October 20, though exact screening dates vary by theater.

Naoko Yamada and Kyoto Animation's anime film is based on Yoshitoki Ōima's manga of the same name. Anime Limited screened the film in the United Kingdom and Ireland in March. Viz Media Europe acquired the rights to distribute the film in the European Union, Russia, Turkey, and French-speaking African countries.

Crunchyroll describes the original manga's story:

I wish we had never met. I wish we could meet once again.
A boy who can hear, Shoya Ishida, and a transfer student who can't, Shoko Nishimiya. One fateful day, the two meet, and Shoya leads the class in bullying Shoko. But before long, the class shifts its target from Shoko to Shoya. Years later, Shoya feels strongly that he must see Shoko once again.

The film earned 2.3 billion yen in Japan, and was the 19th highest-grossing film released in Japan in 2016.

Eleven Arts Anime Studio has been operating since July. It is one of two divisions of Eleven Arts; the other, Eleven Arts Pictures, produces and distributes live-action films.
