Trivia:

In France, The Bride of Halloween opens in a national preview simultaneously on the same day as its Japanese release, a first for a Japanese film in the country. Independent distributor Eurozoom's marketing strategy was mainly geared towards a "nippophile" French audience, and such exposure required the distributor to assume costs to access the material in breach of contractual clauses, as the restrictions imposed by Japan for this operation did not allow exhibitors to see the feature film beforehand. The company reported catastrophic results, damaging both the films' and the distributor's reputation with cinemas. This dissuades some exhibitors from showing the film nationally. It was the 16th lowest-grossing film at the French box office in 2022. Following this failure, Eurozoom's founder and director, Amel Lacombe, criticized the lack of mobilization of the franchise's fans & a virtual influence; in an interview in March 2023, she suggests of an algorithmic lock-in, due to the "noise" of a filter bubble coupled with the "purist" conjectures of these fans on social networks (Twitter), which distorted the team expectations and investment decisions on the 25th film. Exhibitors set an ultimatum after the results of this film: a minimum of 150,000 admissions for its sequel (a large-scale achievement for a Japanese license-based anime, reached by Dragon Ball or Pokémon), Black Iron Submarine, which ended up selling fewer than 30,000 tickets. The distributor's three films were also rejected by the French mainstream, the "Disney audience", and were also not profitable on disc.
