Princess Tutu Celebrates 15 Years of Musical Magic

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Junichi Satō magical girl fantasy series Princess Tutu is celebrating 15 years of magic with a concert in Tokyo on April 14. The "Princess Tutu 15th Anniversary Concert Gold Crown Town Music Festival ~Das Goldkronefest~" will be held at Mitaka City Public Hall's "Hikari no Hall" and focus on music from the anime series. The orchestra will be led by conductor Daisuke Mogi with the anime series' composer Kaoru Wada serving as music director. They will be joined by the series' cast and staff, including Ahiru voice actress Nanae Katou, Mythos voice actor Naoki Yanagi, and chief director Junichi Satō.

Tickets went on sale on Thursday. Tickets that include a special gift at the door cost 9,000 yen (US$84).

Princess Tutu was re-released in a 15th anniversary commemorative box set in Japan in August. The limited edition release included a bonus CD, a 280-page special booklet discussing the show's creation, and a 32-page booklet introducing the show's characters and music.

The series was released on DVD by AEsir Holdings in 2016. The story follows 13-year-old ballet student Ahiru, a clumsy, good-hearted and sweet girl with a big secret. The mysterious Drosselmayer morphed a young duck into a girl to give her a mission: help a Prince to get the parts of his heart back. With that in mind, she morphs into Princess Tutu, whose magical dances eases pain and purifies bad feelings.
