Princess Knight Holds a "Dreamy Christmas" to Commemorate 90 Years Since Osamu Tezuka's Birth

Keihai Ryutsu Systems is setting up four Christmas-themed shops to promote the newest edition of Osamu Tezuka's classic Princess Knight manga, which was published to commemorate 90 years since Tezuka's birth. The shops will contain a mini-exhibit of Princess Knight manga art, stamp rallies, Princess Knight-themed menu items in nearby cafes and bakeries, and a spot where visitors can read e-book versions of Princess Knight for a limited time. This collaboration will be held at three malls in Osaka: Keihan City Mall, Keihan Mall, Kuzuha Mall, as well as the Kyoto Tower Sando. The name of the collaboration event is "Dreamy Christmas 2018."

The collaboration period is between October 25 and December 25. Below is a breakdown of what will be available at each mall:
Keihan City Mall: Free Princess Knight bag for first 50 people who buy the newest manga set (starting from December 1), Chocolate-themed Christmas tree display (starting from December 1).
Keihan Mall: E-book reading spot for Princess Knight (November 16 - 30), Free Princess Knight bag for first 50 people who buy the newest manga set (starting from December 1), Chocolate-themed Christmas tree display (starting from December 1).
Kuzuha Mall: Mini-exhibit showing reproduced manga art (December 14 - 19), E-book reading spot for Princess Knight (December 1 - 25), Free Princess Knight bag for first 50 people who buy the newest manga set (starting from December 1), Chocolate-themed Christmas tree display (starting from December 1).
Kyoto Tower Sando: Mini-exhibit showing reproduced manga art (October 25 - 30, December 2 - 12), E-book reading spot for Princess Knight (October 25 - November 15).
On December 25 between 6pm to midnight, the Kyoto Tower will light up red like the iconic ribbon worn on Sapphire's head. More details will be released later about the collaboration food items and stamp rally.
The newest edition of the Princess Knight manga was published on October 27. All 700 pages of the manga are printed on B5-sized paper and published in two volumes.
Tezuka's Princess Knight manga revolves around Princess Sapphire, who was born with both the soul of a boy and a girl and raised as a boy in order to inherit the kingdom's throne. Tezuka drew the original story in Kodansha's Shoujo Club magazine from 1953 to 1956. Princess Knight and Toshiko Ueda's Boku-chan (1951) are among the first shōjo manga in history. Tezuka later created the Twin Knight sequel in Kodansha's Nakayoshi magazine from 1958 to 1959, followed by a 1963-1966 Princess Knight remake in the same magazine.
Moyashimon scriptwriter Natsuko Takahashi launched a manga remake of the original manga titled Sapphire: Princess Knight in 2008 with artist Pink Hanamori. Japanese publisher Home-sha's online manga magazine Puratto Home launched a rebooted version by Shouko Fukaki (The Battle of Genryu: Origin, Guardian Dog) in 2013.
Vertical published the Princess Knight manga in North America in 2011, and also published the Twin Knight sequel in 2013. Right Stuf released the 1967 anime adaptation on home video. The manga also inspired an anime film in 1994.
