New anime about 104th Training Corps listed with 14th manga volume on August 8

Japanese retailer Presepe is listing Hajime Isayama's 14th Attack on Titan manga volume in a limited-edition bundle with a new original animation DVD on August 8. Presepe's listing notes that the completely new anime will detail Eren and his friends' greatest trial yet. The anime will depict a "memorable episode before the 104th Training Corps became unified."

Pre-orders for the limited edition of the manga volume with the anime DVD start on May 15. Tetsuro Araki will again direct the anime at Wit Studio. Yasuko Kobayashi is again handling the series composition and Kyoji Asano is again handling the character design.

The first original anime DVD shipped with the 12th manga volume in December 2013 and adapted "Ilse no Techō" (Ilse's Journal), the prologue side story about a survey corps member.

The second original anime DVD is shipping with the 13th volume on April 9. The "Totsuzen no Raihousha: Sainamareru Seishun no Noroi" (A Sudden Visitor: The Curse of the Tortured Youth) anime will depict another story about the 104th Training Corps.

Hajime Isayama's hit original manga now has 36 million copies in circulation, and it inspired last year's television anime series. The first volume alone of the television anime has 100,000 copies. It is also inspiring next year's live-action film with lead actor Haruma Miura (Bloody Monday, Kimi ni Todoke) and director Shinji Higuchi (Heisei-era Gamera films).

The manga has also inspired four spinoff manga. Isayama launched the series in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine in 2009.

Kodansha Comics is publishing Isayama's original manga in North America. The company is also releasing three of the four spinoff manga, and the Attack on Titan Guidebooks: INSIDE & OUTSIDE. Vertical is publishing the Attack on Titan: Before the Fall light novel series.

Both Funimation and Crunchyroll streamed the anime version of the manga as it aired in Japan, and Funimation is releasing the series on home video this year.

The franchise is also inspiring two compilation anime films in 2014-2015.
