posted on by Karen Ressler
The mishmash* project, a sound production team consisting of programmer Toshiaki Mishima and producer Masuya Makomu, announced on Thursday that it is working with director Sunao Katabuchi to create an animated music video.
The press release states that the video is finished, but the featured musical artist has not yet been determined.
The mishmash* project's first collaboration featured singer Julie Watai for a series of music videos, each created by a different artist. Several of the videos were animated or illustrated, created by Yoriko Mizushiri ("Futon"), Ryota Kawakubo, kerokeroking, and Hiroyuki Takahashi (HYPERSONIC music club). The mishmash* project's second collaboration was with dancer Miki Orihara.
Katabuchi worked with Studio Ghibli director Hayao Miyazaki on Sherlock Hound and Kiki's Delivery Service before directing his own series, Meiken Lassie. He went on to direct the Black Lagoon action anime series and its original video anime Black Lagoon: Roberta's Blood Trail, as well as the Mai Mai Miracle and Princess Arete anime films. He is directing the crowdfunded anime film To All The Corners Of The World (Kono Sekai no Katasumi ni) at the studio MAPPA.
