Voice Actress Aya Hirano to Study Abroad in New York For 4 Months

Voice actress Aya Hirano announced on her Instagram account on Saturday that because she is going to study abroad for four months, voice actress Rena Matsui will take over her hosting duties on the Tokyo hi-IMAGINE television program. The entertainment news website Oricon additionally reported on Saturday that Hirano is studying abroad in New York.
Hirano added in her Instagram post, "during the time from when the stage that I'm on now ends until the next stage starts," Matsui will serve as the substitute host. Matsui will host the program for half a year. Hirano did not mention why she is studying abroad.
Hirano will appear in The Mystery of Edwin Drood musical in Tokyo starting on April 4, and the musical will end its run in Fukuoka on May 15. Oricon stated that Hirano will go to New York after the musical finishes its run.
Hirano began acting as a child, but she received her big break when she starred in the title role of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya anime series. She has performed theme songs for anime such as The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Fairy Tail, and Lucky Star, another television series for which she headlined. Her other anime roles include Kiddy Grade's Lumière, Death Note's Misa, Fairy Tail's Lucy, Eyeshield 21's Mamori, Parasyte -the maxim-'s Migi, and Gatchaman Crowds's Paiman.
Hirano underwent surgery in October to remove her tonsils after having been suffering from chronic tonsillitis since 2014.
