Earphones trio Rie Takahashi, Marika Kōno, Yuki Nagaku perform theme song, voice main roles in anime

The official website for Akiba's Trip: The Animation, the television anime of Acquire's Akiba's Trip game franchise, began streaming the anime's second trailer. The video reveals and previews the anime's opening theme song "Ikken Rakuchaku Go Yōjin" by Earphones (Iyahonz), a group formed by the anime's voice actresses Rie Takahashi, Marika Kōno, and Yuki Nagaku.

The cast includes:

Haruki Ishiya as Tamotsu Denkigai

Rie Takahashi as Matome Mayonaka

Marika Kōno as Niwaka Denkigai

Yuki Nagaku as Arisa Ahokainen

Misaki Kuno as Tasujin Ratu, a former Tsukuba researcher

Jouji Nakata as Kage-san, Tamotsu's friend

The site describes the story:

Akihabara, a broad-minded neighborhood where everyone from beginners to masters are welcomed. Even when you're alone, if you go to Akiba, you'll find someone who understands you. It's a neighborhood where anything is possible, where anyone can do seemingly anything; a place where you can lay bare your body and soul. In this neighborhood of Akiba, which has everything including anime, games, maids, idols, secondhand parts, and cheap food, battles are fought against the "Bagurimono," and a steadfast "boy meets girl" story begins!

The anime will premiere on AT-X in January 4, followed by Tokyo MX, BS Fuji, and online services such as the d Anime Store. It serves as the first project to commemorate Gonzo's 25th anniversary.

Hiroshi Ikehata (Seiyu's Life!, Robot Girls Z) is directing the series, Kazuho Hyodo (ReLIFE, Robot Girls Z) is handling the series composition, and Hajime Mitsuda (key animator for Steins;Gate, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt) is designing the characters.

The Akiba's Trip games take place in a reproduction of Tokyo's Akihabara district, where the player must fight vampires by tearing off their clothes and exposing them to the sunlight.

Game developer Acquire released the original Akiba's Trip game for the PlayStation Portable in 2011, and an updated version, Akiba's Trip Plus, for PSP in 2012. Acquire released the Akiba's Trip 2 sequel game for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita in 2013.

XSEED Games released Akiba's Trip 2 in North America as Akiba's Trip: Undead and Undressed on PS3 and PS Vita, and later on PlayStation 4 and PC. NIS America released the game in Europe.

The Akiba's Beat successor game is the first action RPG in the franchise. It shipped for the PS4 this month, and will ship for PS Vita in Japan after a delay. XSEED Games will release the game this winter in English on the same systems.
