BD, DVD volume both ranked #1 on animation charts

The market survey firm Oricon updated its sales numbers on Friday for both the first Blu-ray Disc volume and the first DVD volume of the Yuri!!! on Ice television anime. Oricon now reports that the first Blu-ray Disc volume sold 35,453 copies in its first three days, while the first DVD volume sold 15,425 copies. Oricon's charts had previously stated that the Blu-ray Disc volume had sold 24,513, while the DVD volume had sold 11,076.

The combined reported home video sales increased from 35,589 to 50,878 copies. Instead of ranking #3 among animation DVDs for the week, the first Yuri!!! on Ice volume is now listed at #1. (The Blu-ray version remains at #1.) The anime's first volume shipped on December 30.

Both the Blu-ray Disc and DVD releases ranked #1 in the animation charts for December 26 to January 1. The Blu-ray Disc release ranked #2 on Oricon's general Blu-ray Disc chart, and the first DVD volume ranked #3 on the general DVD chart. Clip! SMAP! Complete Singles rank #1 on both the overall Blu-ray Disc and DVD charts in the week that the idol group disbanded.

The Yuri!!! on Ice soundtrack also ranked #4 on the weekly CD album chart for the week of December 26 to January 1, and had sold 56,878 physical copies as of January 1. The soundtrack had ranked #1 on Oricon's weekly digital album chart for the week of December 19-25, and ranked #3 on Oricon's weekly CD album chart for the same time period.

The anime premiered in Japan on October 6, and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan. Funimation began streaming an English broadcast dub on October 24.
