TMS Entertainment began streaming a promotional video for the second season of its Ninja Girl & Samurai Master (Nobunaga no Shinobi) television anime based on Naoki Shigeno's four-panel manga on Wednesday. The new season is titled Nobunaga no Shinobi ~Ise, Kanegasaki-hen~. The video features Renka's new theme song "Shirayuki" (White Snow).
The final episode of the first season premiered on March 28. Beginning with the second season on April 7, the series will switch from Tuesdays at 9:55 p.m. to Fridays at 1:35 a.m. at night (effectively Saturday morning) on Tokyo MX. The air time on TV Aichi will not change, and KBS Kyoto began airing the second season on Wednesday, April 5 at 1:00 a.m. at night (effectively Thursday morning).
The anime's first season premiered in October on Tokyo MX, and later on TV Aichi. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime as it airs in Japan.
Akitarō Daichi (Nurse Angel Ririka SOS, Sexy Commando Gaiden: Sugoi yo!! Masaru-san, Kamisama Kiss) is directing the anime at TMS Entertainment, and Junko Yamanaka (Detective Conan, Kamisama Kiss, ReLIFE) is designing the characters for animation.
The gag manga centers on a young female ninja named Chidori, whose dream is to help the Warring States-era warlord Oda Nobunaga to achieve his goals. Shigeno launched the manga in Young Animal in 2008, and Hakusensha published the manga's tenth compiled volume in September. Hakusensha published the second volume of Shigeno's Nobunaga no Shinobi - Owari no Tōitsu-ki (Nobunaga's Shinobi - Chronicle of Owari's Unification) manga in February 2016.
