New Gegege no Kitarō Anime Reveals Theme Song Artists

The official website of the new television anime based on Shigeru Mizuki's GeGeGe no Kitarō manga revealed the anime's theme song artists on Monday. Kiyoshi Hikawa will perform the anime's classic opening theme song "Gegege no Kitarō," while idol group Maneki-kecak will perform the anime's ending theme song "Kagami no Naka kara" (From Inside the Mirror).
The anime will premiere on Fuji TV on April 1 at 9:00 a.m., replacing Dragon Ball Super in the timeslot.
Many of the cast members, listed below, have appeared in previous anime adaptations of GeGeGe no Kitarō, but none are reprising roles.

Yukiyo Fujii (Sailor Moon Crystal's Sailor Saturn) as new character Mana Inuyama
Toshio Furukawa (Dragon Ball Z's Piccolo) as Nezumi Otoko
Umeka Shōji (Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters' Eri Karan) as Neko Musume
Kappei Yamaguchi (One Piece's Usopp) as Ittan Momen
Bin Shimada (Dragon Ball Z Kai's Babidi) as Konaki Jijii, Nurikabe
Mayumi Tanaka (One Piece's Luffy) as Sunakake Baba
Kouji Ogawa is serving as series director while Hiroshi Ohnogi (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) is handling series composition. Sorato Shimizu is the character designer and chief animation director. Yasuharu Takanashi (Fairy Tail) and -yaiba- (Naruto Shippūden) are composing the music. Fuji TV, Yomiuri Advertising, and Toei Animation are producing.
The manga, which began in 1959 under the name Hakaba Kitarō, has spawned seven television series (including one Hakaba Kitarō anime), several animated movies, and two live-action films. The stories center on an inhuman boy who straddles the line between the human and supernatural worlds.
Characters from the franchise recently appeared in the Yo-kai Watch Shadowside: Oni-ō no Fukkatsu (Yo-kai Watch: Shadowside: The Return of the Oni King) anime film, which opened in December. Masako Nozawa, who has voiced the main character Kitarō in some of the manga's numerous anime adaptations, reprised the role in the film.
